All these recent claims of censorship is simply Japanese gaming companies wanting to maintain a certain image in the west. Which means they are either embarassed (most likely the reason in this case) or afraid of getting negative PR for racist, sexists or other culturally inappropriate content. Because it certainly has nothing to do with what gamers will buy and nothing to do with government interference.

 

Actually it is censorship.  Nintendo has decided that the game will not be released in the US without this feature removed.  Therefore Nintendo is censoring the game.

It is censorship. It doesn't have to be done by an external party.

Nope, that's not censorship. That's moderation. Self censorship is a colloquialism and popular misappropriation of the word. 

If you want to argue that Nintendo the publisher is an external party relative to the people who developed the game, then there is a case to be made of censorship. But first you have to prove that the people who developed the game itself did not choose to remove that content.

Stuff like this just makes me think that Nintendo thinks very little of western people because they have to put on the kiddy gloves and shelter us from specific content constantly like we're too stupid to differentiate between fantasy and reality. All because a bunch of pearl-clutching virtue signalers who probably don't even play video games needed something to be offended by.

Actually it's more that you have to blame the overly sensitive groups in the west who for years have complained about this and that, why do think games like DOAX aren even getting western releases and SFV getting censored despite being only a beta.

'cause, huh, that has nothing to do in a mainline Fire Emblem game. If it was in a spin-off (or in SMTxFE), I wouldn't care, but this weird mini-game is like a dirt in the perfect suit that represents Fire Emblem Fates.

well I honestly the group that complained in previous years (religious and parents) are much different than the group complaining now (SJWs): The new ones can use social media.
