They should just sign a deal with EA.
EA gets to make Mario FIFA, NFL, NHL, and NBA themed sports games for Nintendo systems. Each one of these should sell pretty OK.
In exchange for Nintendo allowing them to make Mario sports games, EA agrees to give the NX a gauruntee on the Madden/FIFA/etc. titles being on NX through at least lets say ... 2021. Fair enough.
I don't think EA "hates" Nintendo, it's just a demographic problem (their games don't sell well on Nintendo systems).
Nintendo is fine. We don't need FIFA and Madden and COD on Nintendo consoles, there are a million other devices for the mainstream non gamers to play that crap on.
Something arcadey like Mario Strikers, yes, but a realistic (association) football game? Not a chance without the licenses
Btw, the upcoming Mario & Sonic @the Rio Olympic games has football in it, so for those who like the beautiful game this might be an idea.
An arcade style, mario strikers game, yeah, a serious sports simulation type game without the proper licenses? No, not at all.
Give EA the Mario license for sports games. Let them make a Mario Strikers FIFA game with real FIFA stars (Messi, Ronaldo, etc.) with an arcadey play style.
In exchange EA agrees to give NX ports of their sports games gaurunteed.
Win-win for both sides.
They can bring back the greatest soccer game of all time: Nintendo World Cup
Before EA locked down the FIFA licence they could have easily done it. I mean Sega did with 2K sports and NFL2K outsold madden that year.
I would love it if Nintendo used their Wii money to outbid EA for FIFA. The look on their stupid execs faces.....
I LOVE ICELAND!

I'm thinking about getting Rio Olympic games but haven't made a decision yet.

I'm glad you don't make business decisions for those companies.
