Like what some are saying it was bundles that was the cause for Uncharted Collection to "outsell" Halo 5. What more is that the Uncharted bundle is the main bundle for Sony's Black Friday sales. Hell on my local Target store during BF the only main bundle the PS4 had aside from the 5 or 6 Star Wars Bundles were the Uncharted ones. It's funny that some are claiming that people do have a choice whether they wanted to get that or Star Wars or COD bundle but there wasn't any COD bundles on my local Target store and even if there was it will be limited like the 5 or 6 Star Wars ones and once those bundles are gone people literally had no choice but to get the main bundle which is Uncharted. The same goes for Halo 5 which was very limited and Gears bundle was MS main bundle for the holidays contrary to what some are claiming here.

By the way in response to someone bringing up Splatoon in this thread you do know Splatoon was bundled with the WiiU especially in Japan, right?

Oh one last thing the NPD results for Uncharted Collection that sold without bundles is quite telling and all you need to know.

Exactly what I said! Thank you!

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

As it has been said. Uncharted Collection was heavily bundled during the holidays season. Halo 5 was not. Simple.

The userbase has a little effect. Halo 3 sold much better than 5 on a smaller userbase.

Agreed. There were plenty other factors as to why Halo 5 sold less.

Userbase.

Not only.  Halo is also going down and down, and it's not anymore the big Hit it was with XBox and 360;   the same for Gears, both series are getting old, MS have to change page.

True. I don't think I have seen a such a sharp and sudden drop for any major franchise before. And I can't fully understand why.

( Credit goes to the fantastic Shadow1980 for the graph ) It is important to note that it doesn't include the digital sales... But still...

It's 343 vs Naughty Dog... that and the userbase (since this is more to be expected from new titles, but after Rare Replay and the Master Chief Collection, I think I might have been selling remasters short).

Thats the main issue with studios that are created with the single purpose of creating games from one franchise only, like 343 Industries.

It stunts their creativity and sooner than later they end destroying the franchise, specially when they werent the ones that created Halo in the first place.

Look at their resume:

2009 Halo Waypoint Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Xbox 360
2011 Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary[13] Xbox 360
2012 Halo 4[14] Xbox 360
2013 Halo: Spartan Assault[15] iOS, Windows, Windows Phone, Xbox 360, Xbox One
2014 Halo Channel Windows, Windows Phone, Xbox One, Android
Halo: The Master Chief Collection[16] Xbox One
2015 Halo: Spartan Strike[17] iOS, Windows, Windows Phone
Halo 5: Guardians[18] Xbox One
2016 Halo Wars 2

Xbox One, Microsoft Windows

Microsoft MUST learn that franchises eventually die and you have to move on with newer, fresher games.

Halo is obviously on the decline, a steep decline.

The sad thing is that i dont see Microsoft with a back up plan of their own.

Quantum Break, Scalebound and Sunset Overdrive are not from internal studios.

Forza and Halo are on the way down, and Gears will also have underwhelming sales, im sure of that.

What is going to be their answer to this?

Uncharted 4 will end the Nathan Drake saga on a high note so Naughty Dog can continue with The Last of Us franchise, and after TLOU who knows? But they have to stay creative and independent.

Imagine if Sony had twisted Naughty Dog arms to just create Uncharted games? We wouldnt have received one of The Best Games in Videogame History like The Last of Us.

Let 343i create another game and let the Halo franchise rest for a while at least.

So NDC outsold H5 because Sony practically gave the game away.. Halo 5 still sold over 3m on a system with less then half the user base. Sure your right NDC outsold H5, but lets look at the facts here. My brother works at gamespot. There are tons of NDC to return copies because he tells me that most who buy a PS4 bundle return it for extra cash where as H5 has very little copies sitting at the back. That tells you alot.

That is why you dont take sales figures for granted. Heck Knack sold 1.56m copies and thats a 54 metacritic game. That has outsold alot of games but again Bundles.

A better comparison would be Halo 5 vs Killzone SF.
H5 3.4m - KZ 2.45m
Not bad considering the rep the X1 has.

But Killzone Shadow Fall was released on a userbase of zero. It was a release title. In the first two months Killzone was out, there was only 4.5 million PS4s sold, so by your logic we should be able to chalk up those relatively poor sales of Killzone to install base, shouldn't we?
