It's reassuring to read some posts here, but I really don't buy the whole "they can reuse the assets" thing. Except for Majora's, which is a totally different situation, they always use new engines/assets for the game. If NX is about as powerful as an XB1 as some rumors say, I think reusing this engine would hold the game's potential, so they wouldn't do it.

Zelda U will be 720p/30fps, for next Zelda they can reuse same engine (that looks beautiful) and assets and made new 1080p game with more complex graphics, AA and some new effects. You can be sure that Nintendo will not make onother 720p/30fps Zelda with NX hardware.

I think Zelda Wii U will be 1080p30fps.

Its almost certain that Zelda U is 720p/30Fps, Wii U cant handle such a big and deatield world in 1080p, we only few 1080p Wii U games.

If the NX is actually a fusion of handheld and home consoles, then yes. And the development has probably started.

If not, maybe it won't happened. I don't know why Nintendo don't do what they have done with Majora's Mask, they did a straight up sequel to Ocarina, reusing the engine and assets, and went crazy with the rest and made one of the most memorable game in the franchise.

Well they did it for spirit tracks, but this game suuuuuucked

First you have to ask if the Wii U will get one

I hope their new, more business-minded CEO can see that a single 5 year epic Zelda that ties up their best team isn't worth it.

You know I never once considered how Nintendo's best team of developers have spent the entirety of the Wii U's lifespan tied up with this one game. That's quite sad really. But as for whether it's worth it, the proof of that pudding will be in the eating. If they release it cross-gen then it could still be worth it both for the fans but also from a business perspective.

Zelda U - Multiplat with Wii U and NX in 2016

Zelda X - Multiplat with NX and NX2 in 2021

Now I wanna bet on that. The home console Zelda after Zelda U will come in 2019, 2020 if something happens and a delay occurs.

I hope Zelda U to be great and exclusive to WiiU.

They can do a follow up (like OOT and MM) for the NX - plus an improved version of Zelda U as bonus!

Wind Waker had a bonus disc too so they are not new to this process!

Switch!!!

Yes i think

Depends on how much time they spend developing it and delays also play an important role in that. We have to remember that SS also got delayed.

Fans would not like having only two Zelda games per decade, even if they try to fill the space with spinoffs and remakes.

Nintendo has been doing that since Zelda started. There's always usually two games. And a ton of spin offs.

Depends on whether Aonuma is in charge or not. If he is, you can bet another nonsense 5 years cycle.
