so do you think that it is being replaced this year? you dont seem to indicate one way or another. i dont necessarily disagree with anything that you said, but i dont see how any of that means the wii u is being replaced this year.

And I don't see how the logic you present states anything otherwise. That's my point here. My opinion doesn't matter here, because I'm about 60/40 on it at this point; I chimed in to point out that your entire basis for argument is rooted entirely in irrelevance.
Personally, I'm leaning 2016 for some form of NX. Even if we only get the handheld part, that's going to replace the Wii U this year based purely on the dual-system ideology they're going for now. Zelda U will be the last game the console gets from Nintendo, no doubt about it. They'll try not to kill Zelda U hype by releasing the NX handheld instead of directly competing, and then port it a few months down the line to fit right with the home device launch. Zelda U is the only reason I'm not 100% sure of the NX console's launch, because they seem firm on the claim that its only coming to Wii U (at least at first), and they're not gonna shoot the game in the foot if they can help it.
Either way, the argument of when is mostly irrelevant since it'll either be in ten months or thirteen; if the Wii U had more than a year left I doubt they'd be ending support for their biggest hit on the console after nine months, and I doubt we'd be seeing Smash support ending so soon either unless Nintendo had plans for an NX port/sequel of sorts. With the content we're getting this year being ENTIRELY "hold off until Zelda!" content, it shows that Nintendo is pulling the plug ASAP for the Wii U; and the fairly dismal content for the 3DS thus far shows that they're not simply focusing on one platform over another like they've mostly done in the past. They've cut the content output for both and trickled out what little they have left to hold us over until the NX. Whichever form it comes in first, like I said, is pretty much irrelevant if the NX is anything like it's been described.
