I really think Splatoon is one of the most overrated games of all time at this point. I really don't see why anyone considered it good at all and I owned the game from day 1. I was super disappointed with it.
It was good but, it was lacking so much at launch and it's still lacking to this day.

Great new IP, fresh, interesting, addictive and very fun game. Fact that you dont see that and not enjoying it is telling that you dont like game, not that game objectively is bad. For instance I dont like at all GTA, but that doesnt means that game is objectively bad.

Will it? No.

Should it? Yes.

I feel like people will be more prone to look back on the Wii U and see the lack of consistency in release schedule and poor management of the product on a whole.

Hardly if Zelda U comes on NX too because on Wii U will be at end of life of Wii U and on NX on beginning of NX life.

zelda wii u isnt announced for nx.

No it's not becuse we still dont know anuthing about NX, beacuse that I wrote if Zelda U comes on NX, and there are very good chance that will be launch title for NX same like TP was launch title for Wii.

if you know absolutly nothing about nx how can you say zelda wii u will likely be a launch title?

You dont know release date, specs, controller input..you dont even know if its gonna be a handheld, home console or both or something different. With informations we have so far its very likely zelda wii u is a wii u exclusive title and will be the system defining game.

I assuming (like almost anybody else) what could be, and whole this situation is very similar when TP get dual release on GC and Wii. It very unlikely that Nintendo will leave their biggest project ever like eksklusive game just for Wii U small base when can achieve much more if they make it in same time launch title for NX too, same like they done with TP for Wii.

How is the situation similar to TP?

The wii was hardware whise basically a gamecube. The game dont even really needed to get ported, GPU and CPU were almost the same.

Also the gamecube already got Windwaker as an exclusive Zelda title.

The Situation is similar to skyward sword (which was their biggest project till 2011) were they released the game 1 year before launch of the next system. I may can see an remastered Version (like The Last of Us Remastered) on NX in 2017 if (and only if) nx is an new home console that should replace the wii u (nintendo already said it shouldnt replace wii u).

BTW: Games arnt the reason the wii u failed. Mario Kart 8, Splatoon, 3d Wörld, Mario Maker, Smash and so on are really great and almost perfect games. But the System didnt sold. I doubt their strategy with NX will be "just release our big franchises". They need to try something else. I highly doubt their plans for NX are to release Zelda on it and make NX an sucess. That wont work.

The Wii didnt sold because of Twilight Princess, it sold because of Wii Sports. They need something like this for launch, something better then ninendo land.

Imho yes. as of now It's already a more recognizable title than any mario/smash game that came out on it and usually Zelda games even if they are gorgeus aren't taken as the rappresentative game for a console (OoT excluded of course tough many might argue that Mario 64 is more iconic) so, unless Zelda U is EXTREMELY groundbreaking not only for Zelda games, but also for gaming I expect it to be remembered as a more glorified TP than anything else...

BIggest project ever that is coming on very bad selling system at end of life of that system (same like GC), game that was delayed for whole year (same like TP), and that will be launch probably in same time when new console will be launched (yes, I think NX is coming at end of this year) so its not same situation like Skyward Sword, it's far more TP situation. Zelda U not being Wii U exclusive doesn't matter at all, that doesn't affect anything.

NX will probably have NX handheld and NX home console, definitely NX will not be only handheld.

Actualy games are one of reasons why Wii U failed, Wii U had terrible launch titles and software droughts. All games you mentione arived on console after first year when Wii U already was dead, I will just bring fact that Wii U in its second and third quarter sold 460k combine WW, that is terible number for new console. Wii U died in its first year, also all third party abondend platform also in first year after terible sales.

Their strategy for NX definatly isnt "just release our big franchises" but its definatly part of NX stratagie, they need strong launch and first year titles, Zelda U port like launch title for NX in combination with new 3D Mario game (also very likly launch title) would be very strong launch titles.

Wii mostly sold because of Wii Sports but in combination with new Zelda like launch title that was very strong launch for new console. Wii U has terrible launch titles, basically HD port of NSMB and Nintendo Land game that didnt had nearly same apeling like Wii Sports, Zelda U port and new 3D Mario would be very strong combination.

All other good games in Wii U are sequels of established franchise.
So there isn't any other option.

Btw Casuals = mobile gaming , Nintendo needs a hardcore console with third party support to have success. (Like SNES)

The casuals from Wii area won't return.

Exactly NOT. Skyward Sword was their biggest project. Was delayed 1 full year. Was released in the same year their successor was announced (2011). Now check Zelda Wii U.

Biggest Project (x)

Delayed 1 full year (x)

Release in same year as successor announced (NX will be annoucned 2016, not released) (x). NOTHING hints a 2016 release. NOTHING.

Maybe, maybe not. We dont know.

Wii was just as successfull as it turned out because of wii sports. Twilight Princess did almost nothing. Look at Gamecube, how it had great games (metroid prime, Mario Kart, Mario Sunshine and Winwaker hd (controverse), Smash and alot more) and also this sold almost as bad as wii u. Games are not the reason the wii u failed. The Wii U Launch Lineup was on par with Ps4 and Xbone.

Also Zelda is not their System Seller. Skyward Sword sold poorly (3-4 Mio on 100 mio install base). If they want software boost, they will bring Mario Kart 9, Smash 5, 3D Mario and Pokemon. Zelda is not a selling machine, nintendo have better franchises.
