- Netflix content varies from region to region
- people have been circumventing region-resticted content by using proxies and VPN
- Netflix announces that they are on a mission to stop that from happening in order to protect global licensing
- David Fullagar, vice president of content delivery architecture at Netflix, said in a blog post:
“In coming weeks, those using proxies and unblockers will only be able to access the service in the country where they currently are,”
- comment may come as a surprise to some as Netflix has expressed the impossibility of completelt restricting content by region
- for example, earlier this week Netflix chief product officer Neil Hunt said:
"We do apply industry standard technologies to limit the use of proxies. Since the goal of the proxy guys is to hide the source it’s not obvious how to make that work well. It’s likely to always be a cat-and-mouse game. [We] continue to rely on blacklists of VPN exit points maintained by companies that make it their job. Once [VPN providers] are on the blacklist, it’s trivial for them to move to a new IP address and evade."
Any victims of this in here?
Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:
