If one system lacks these types of games it should encourage the system owners to buy the view remaining games of this genre of their platform, imo

What could they buy that wouldn't upset the userbase?.

Also the X1 doesn't run games as good as the PS4 so we've got that to consider as well, the weaker HW is just a factor MS knows they have to consider, back with the PS1-2 that sort of issue didn't matter but now visuals and good frames now do.

Also I don't remember the 360 having a bountiful plethora of JRPG's last gen, I do know they had some but not a massive list that outweighed the PS3, especially near the current list now.

The way things are now I just don't see a Western console ever getting a hand on the JRPG market let alone being more popular with it.

In what way is the weaker hardware playing a role in getting jrpgs? On everage X1 games performs worse than on ps4, western and japanese so i dont get what you mean? And yes the X360 had plenty of early jrpgs and other japanese games who even to this are eclusive to this console: Rumble Roses 2, Dead or Alive 4 & Extreme 3,  the last Remnant, last odessey, bullet witch, blue dragon, ridge racer, ace combat, cave shooters etc. Same is true for the OG xbox who got support from japan trough its lifetime, not only early on.

The japanese devolopers tried and they didnt get the love back, thats why things are now how they are.

X1 has weaker hardware and isn't really putting much up against the PS4, that alone is going to change people's perfection on how good they can play their game let alone being immersed within it. Even as a 360 gamer did I start to notice the odd game or two that didn't do so great with jaggies and sometimes really bad frame dips, Bayonetta on PS3 was a really bad port ansd as such I knew I had to get it on 360, when my PS3 died I bought a 360 and the rest was history, but that is just a small example of an issue that the X1 currently faces.

For years the XBox brand hasn't done so swell with the Japanese market let alone the JRPG style of RPG's, Western styles they've had nailed along with shooters but not JRPG's, even when we look at sales the PS3 has clearly booked the 360 to bed and now this gen the same is happening again, the Western console just isn't going to get what you think it possibly can. Even if Phil made some deals, those deals are likely to cause uproar or boycots or general rage and we all know that these days most corps out there really take notice on this sooner or later and they don't always want an uproar or ruckus around their brand (For Xbox that's a common theme this gen that cannot be erased).

The thing about your 360 point is that those were earlier on JRPG's and most were singles at best, some studios either being around today or adapted into other studios which are likely to be making newer franchises or titles for the PS4 or even PS3. The 360 did have some but like you said earlier on, not through the middle and towards the present and even then in the end the PS3 still got the most JRPG's and likely sold the most too, there's just no catch up in this late game and the same is likely to happen again next gen and the last 3 gens of the same song and dance tells me that Phil isn't likely to pot all the gold into getting JRPG's on a promise for enxt gen that they might support the next system.

You can still give love and love someone else though, that happens with some people. Also when you pay for a job and the job isn't done well which is something that can also happen and then you can have the guy who blames his tools and his boss rather than himself while looking to work with someone else and maybe hitting the jackpot.

I just don't see the Japanese giving all their all for a Western system, for decades they have always held onto their ideals and beliefs that they are still the centre of the industry and control it all, adhering to a Western system goes against all that, especially supporting a system that could be the more popular one on the market.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

@Chazore

ofc but... more than x10 as much? is that normal for FF games?

To be honest, what's not "normal" is that a FF game is even available on the Xbox. But you have the stellar work MS did with the 360 to thank for that.

Xbox One users should feel lucky they even got FFXV & KH3.

They are probably going to be the last SE JRPGs on that console.

I think the main reason for the split is the simple fact that people just associate FF with Sony these days. Basically throughout one of the biggest video game boom periods to date from the late 90's to late 2010's the main series Final Fantasies were exclusively on Sony's consoles. So people just grew accustomed to the fact that if you want to play a Final Fantasy, you get it on a Sony console.

One game on a competing platform can't really change that.
