Forums - Politics Discussion - Update 3: Sean Penn talked to 'El Chapo' Guzman before arrest, is the actor in trouble?

Chapo will never tie Escobar's shoes. Everyone knows about Escobar's drug trade but how he turned a little backwater town into a full fledged beautiful city (Envigado), is a foreign concept to most. He also gave alot of what he built to the people of the city. The prison he "escaped" from, was a prison he had built. For crying out loud he was also able to avoid the CIA while taking pictures with his son right in front of the white house. THAT is balls. ALOT of political assassinations ended up being on corrupt politicians, but always was swept under the rug and the government under Gaviria at the time ended up killing civilians and pinning it on Escobar. Was he a Robin Hood? Not really, but for as much bad as he did, which entailed contraband and drug trade, he also did alot of cleanup and helping those who were in true poverty.

El Chapo is just another 2 bit mexican criminal who is solely about power, making money and killing the opposition.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

Update: Authorities say he will return to the same prison from which he escaped:

Do they want him to escape?! Just put him in an American prison ffs...

Maybe the administration doesn't want to appear weak, after showing an image of stregth by re-capturing him, considering his escape happened under their noses.

I bet politics are the reason for this decision, as not to appear weak and in need for another country to take care of their criminals.

What's the point of having pride or appearing weak when he already escaped.....2 times.....you are already weak for crying out load.

Mexican prison system and government decisions are already in jeopardy, if he escapes AGAIN, it will just bring more shame and make the open wound even wider.

I believe the priority should be ensuring he remains in prison, an extradition feels like the way to go.

He escaped previously, but it wasn't during the current administration. Perhaps current president is praying for a third escape, if it ever happens, to ocur after his term.

I'm glad that they captured him, but it baffles me that he's going to be sent into the same prison he escaped from. Why not extradite him to the United States and let the Federal government put him into a hard to escape hellhole where his money and influence means shit? This definitely needs a movie.

It might be true, but he's more likely to escape the prison he has escaped months ago again. Even if they reinforce security, every chain has its weakest link.

Seems like he was caught thanks to his desire to make a movie about his life.

Update 2: 'El Chapo' Guzman's Desire to Make Biopic Helped Lead to His Capture

The desire to have a movie made about his life helped Mexican authorities capture drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, who had been on the run since his Hollywood-esque prison escape last summer.

Mexico’s Attorney General Arely Gomez said Friday the head of the Sinola Cartel intended to make a biopic and his people talked with actresses and producers about it. The development eventually helped authorities track Guzman, 57, to Los Mochis, the coastal city in northern Sinaloa, Mexico, where he was captured.

Update 3: 'El Chapo' Talked With Sean Penn, In Clandestine Jungle Interview

The news that keep on giving...

Apparently Sean Penn interviewed El Chapo for some reason:

- On Saturday night, it was Sean Penn's turn to deliver a shock: In Rolling Stone, the actor revealed that he had spoken with the longtime head of the Sinaloa drug cartel during his time as a fugitive.

Penn said:

"This will be the first interview El Chapo had ever granted outside an interrogation room," Penn writes, "leaving me no precedent by which to measure the hazards."

- Connecting with Guzmán through intermediaries Kate del Castillo, a Mexican actress, and a mutual contact Penn only calls Espinoza, Penn set up an October meeting with the man in the remote jungle.

- according to Penn during a seven hours interview, El Chapo said:

"I supply more heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana than anybody else in the world," Guzmán says, according to Penn. "I have a fleet of submarines, airplanes, trucks and boats."
