It is kind of interesting seeing how much people can cloud their views on success. I myself am a PlayStation fanboy, but I don't see how the Wii was not a beast. It may have had a halt that was not matched by the PS2 or PS1, but it's beginning was unlike anything we've ever seen. It had the best sales that we'eve ever seen for a console. Also, I find it very unlikely that a PS4 year with Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Persona will not sell as well as the previous year. Anyways, while my bias towards PS makes me want it to sell the most, I also love Nintendo's consoles and do not want to see them go away.

I won't continue. Comments like this one shows that they don't want to have a reasonable communication.
I am outta here, it is really late. Good night. :)

Look dude, if you are trying to say that 100m is not beast sales, you are already showing everyone how low is your credibility. Nothing more, nothing less.

100M are not beast sales if we compare them to PS2 lifetime numbers, which is the true beast.
PS1 sold more than the Wii and nobody ever mentioned that PS1 is a beast, because it is not a beast.
Nobody here is saying that Wii sold bad, Wii sold amazing. But you guys are trying to tell us that the Wii was the ultimate beast which was the best selling console for 3 years but you can't recognize that it dropped after that. And again, the only thing which counts in the end is the lifetime number.

Lol this is the dumbest argument ever, only the best selling console ever is considered a beast. Dude just accept it, Wii was the dominant console until Nintendo basically abandoned it after 2010 and PS3/360 still weren't able to catch it with an extra 3 years of heavy support.

Sure Nintendo abandoned the Wii... You don't believe this, do you? xD
Deal with my opinion, consoles are considered beasts when they reach 150M+ (PS2 and NDS). Everything which is 100M+ is amazing but not a beast. If you think different, I have no problem with it but don't tell me that my opinion is wrong!

Sorry I had to comment after this post and this was really my last post here, good night everyone!

The Wii had a solid hardcore userbase but the majority of it was there for the 3/4 years of motion control fad.  That's gone and you see what's left with the Wii.  About 15m users.

My point is that the Wii in Japan most certainly didn't sell to the minimum of its potential and the ps3 definitely did.

That is so dumb. How can you know the amount of "dedicated users" the console had? You take a number out of your ass and thats it? Sure the Ps3 and Ps4 have a 100% of dedicated users right? Of course.

Lets take an exemple, Mario Galaxy 2 was released on Wii lowest year, 2011, it managed to sold 7.5 m of copies, Uncharted 3 was released the same year, and, like Mario in wii, is one of the favourite games of Sony "dedicated userbase", it sold 6.8m. So.... I guess if Wii dedicated userbase was a 15%, Ps3 dedicated userbase must be even lower... following your broken logic of course.

Obviously the massive influx of casuals has a knock on effect.

The gamecube and Wii U prove how small the core base really is.  The whole point I'm making is the Wii in Japan definitely didn't under sell its potential.  It just died when the fad died down.
