Forums - Nintendo - It's the Day before Nintendo's E3 2016 Press Conference and they haven't said a word about the NX yet: How would you react?

Question is in title.

1. Simply write what you would write in a news thread or post on twitter if this happens

2. Do you think this is a realistic scenario?

3. Do you think a 2016 release would still be possible then?

4. What do you think Nintendo will put their focus on at their E3 press conference if this happens?

5. Nintendo announces the next day that NX is coming in 2016. How would you react?

6. Nintendo announces the next day that NX is coming in 2017. How would you react?

7. Since Nintendo has been so quiet before E3, what do you expect the NX to be?

8. Is not talking about it until E3 a good or a bad sign? Please with explanation.

I'm starting:

1. "Okay, nothing special, that's what I expected since I expect it to launch in 2017 anyway"

2. Yes, of course

3. No

4. Wii U Games, next handheld, small NX teaser

5. "WTF?!"

6. "Yeah, that's what I expected to happen. Glad to see it being confirmed."

7. Something big, because they announced it long ago and they take so much time for it.

8. Depends on when it will launch. If it still launches in 2016 (what I expect to be not possible) then it is a very bad sign, since it shows that doesn't have much faith in it and that it will probably be another flop. If it launches in 2017 then could be a bad or good sign, but can't say that concretely at this point.

Nintendo are notoriously tight lipped so I wouldn't think a thing. In any event, let's hope they have an actual E3 conference this year. The whole virtual conference thing is weak and needs to stop imo.

1. Simply write what you would write in a news thread or post on twitter if this happens?

See, I told you guys.

2. Do you think this a realistic scenario?

It's actually the most likely scenario. They've pretty much spelled it out for you.

3. Do you think a 2016 release would still be possible then?

No, right now 2016 pretty much seems like the far shot scenario.

4. What do you think Nintendo will put their focus on at their E3 press conference if this happens?

Still LegendOf Zelda and NX. See Nintendo E3 2011.

5. Nintendo announces the next day that NX is coming in 2016. How would you react?

Happy that we get to experience a new system earlier. Upset a bit my sig would be out of my control for a year, but mostly excited.

6. Nintendo announces the next day that NX is coming in 2017. How would you react?

Happy that we get to experience a new system soon. Would laugh at the things I would make Metroid33slayer write for his sig for the next year.

7. Since Nintendo has been so quiet before E3, what do you expect the NX to be?

I think it's more than likely their console replacement. Would hope it's a hybrid as the 3ds is reaching the end of its life.

8. Is not talking about it until E3 a good or a bad sign? Please with explanation.

I think not talking about it until E3 would be all I need to know the system isn't coming out this year. They aren't going to want a shotgun reveal and release. Doing that would imply they would not need any time to build hype. So in a way that'd be a good thing, I just don't see this as the case.

1. "Wow, no leaks this time around, gotta see the E3 Digital Event, I hope the damn thing has those wheel-triggers, I'm already addicted to them"
2. No. leaks happen, plus I could see Nintendo showing off something before E3
3. Yes, 5-6 months is plenty of time to get people hyped for a new device, plus Nintendo doesn't want to skip on a holiday season, if they announce NX at E3 sales for Wii U will drop even lower than what they currently do so it doesn't make sense to wait until 2017, Kimishima stated that they want to get everything ready, that to me says simply that every studio/game that wasn't formally announced until now is most likely working on NX software.
4. They'll show the device (the controller too but first the device itself), then they'll explain what are it's key features and specs and show a trailer with people playing the new Nintendo Land/Wii Sports and using the new features of NX, after that they'll show all the games that are in the works for the launch and the few monts following it, as well as Zelda of course.
5. next day to what ? in any case I'm happy I don't have to wait until 2017 for purchasing the device and I go to my local shop/Amazon to preorder the thing.
6. I sob for a while, wait a couple months until the Wii Us are sold for a cheap-ass price (150€ max) and buy it to wait until NX comes out, or maybe not and I just change my laptop waiting for NX...
7. I expect it to be what everyone is expecting it to be(a home console with a portable device that can be used as a controller and that share it's library with it but with downscaled graphics) but with a twist nobody saw coming (weel triggers, no buttons on the controller and stuff like that)
8. It depends. On one side it'd be best for them to first announce the device with the specs at a separate event while announcing it's real name, gimmicks and games at E3, on the other hand if they keep everything unwraped people won't know what to expect from E3, either games that look worse than the competition, on par or even better, if they'll play as the games we know play and so on...

Nintendo is setting themselves up for an automatic failure.

2. Do you think this a realistic scenario?
Nope.

3. Do you think a 2016 release would still be possible then?
Yes, they could announce the console at E3 and then the games at Gamescom. But the E3 press is stupid, hardware unveils are not suited to E3, they need more simplistic stuff.

4. What do you think Nintendo will put their focus on at their E3 press conference if this happens?
I don't care what their E3 is then, and will wait until Gamescom to see what they do.

5. Nintendo announces the next day that NX is coming in 2016. How would you react?
Good. I expect it this year.

6. Nintendo announces the next day that NX is coming in 2017. How would you react?
I'd be disappointed, Nintendo needs at least an adequate home console as soon as possible, any delays just mean that there won't be one for longer yet.

7. Since Nintendo has been so quiet before E3, what do you expect the NX to be?
A videogame platform.

8. Is not talking about it until E3 a good or a bad sign? Please with explanation.
Very bad sign, it means that Nintendo's marketing still stinks. E3 is too late in the year. You don't announce consoles at E3, you announce games at E3. The press that covers E3 are far from the brightest, you really need to dumb it down for them. The NX has to be covered by more intelligent press beforehand.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Around the Network

1. E3 will be very interesting.

2. No, because Nintendo just keep mention NX.

3. Look answer to question number 2, it's highly unlikely that we will not have any new info about NX untill E3.

4. It will never happen. E3 2016. will be all about NX games for NX and ofcourse Zelda U. :)

5. No suprise, Like I expected.

6. Suprised.

7. Same thing that I think now  it will be, unified platform with NX home and NX handhelds consoles.

8. Look answer to question number 2.

1. Simply write what you would write in a news thread or post on twitter if this happens

They need to make the people know they are making a new devices, even if they don't say much about it.

2. Do you think this a realistic scenario?

Yes, I think they'll need to show both hardware and games together. If they announce it before, they might not have that big an E3 possible, and that's when everyone is listening. Remember the XBone reveal, barely any games shown was one of the reasons why it got the negative reaction. Nintendo should go full guns blazing and dedicate two presentations: the digital direct for software, and a traditional presentation for the hardware, to show and explain how it works.

3. Do you think a 2016 release would still be possible then?

Yes, less time for people to forget about the device.

4. What do you think Nintendo will put their focus on at their E3 press conference if this happens?

Agan, two conferences, a traditional one and a Direct.

5. Nintendo announces the next day that NX is coming in 2016. How would you react?

Yayyyyyyy. I'll buy it when the next Pokemon comes.

6. Nintendo announces the next day that NX is coming in 2017. How would you react?

Oh. Well, the 3DS will keep me busy then. I'll buy the NX when the next Pokemon comes.

7. Since Nintendo has been so quiet before E3, what do you expect the NX to be?

The Fusion system. Being able to play all their gaies in each one of the platforms, with a few differences.

8. Is not talking about it until E3 a good or a bad sign? Please with explanation.

They have to guarantee that the project isn't rushed, and that the rest of their projects (the Nintendo accounts and mobile) will help to su8pport it, rather than draw resources from it.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Basically nails down what I wanted to write.

If nintendo dont have the NX launch in 2016.... man... that ll be rough.

Then they better pull a magical rabbit outta a hat, and go Tada "look we had 20 new games ready to launch all along (for wii U), we just decided not to tell anyone, so we could surprise you with the good news instead".

If 2016 turns out to be a barron waste land of game droughts for the wii u, and the NX is first well into 2017... yeah.... this is how you lose consumer trust.

Could end up hurting the NX sales.

To be honest, I would lose trust in the company when they launch it in 2016. The Wii U would then be a console without Animal Crossing and Paper Mario and even without its own Zelda. That would be the point where I won't buy Nintendo consoles any longer, because they don't deliver what I want, so I don't see a reason to buy their systems.
