Should Nintendo make an M-rated IP?

Maybe not its internal studios back home, but if a second party like Monolith or Retro, or a trusted third party like Platinum or Capcom has some cool ideas for an original IP or existing one, then give it the green light. Nintendo should know by now that publishing an M-rated IP won't hurt its image one bit.

While I think it could benefit Nintendo, I'd prefer them to make new IP's that can be enjoyed by everyone. I like Nintendo *because* they don't make mature rated games, I mean, most of the games that come out today have this need for realism and blood and shooting that I just hate. We don't need yet another company doing these types of games when everyone else is making them already. But that's just me, I'm sure most people here will disagree with me on this and that's totally fine, it's just my opinion anyways =P

Edit: I'd be okay with M-rated third-party exclusives though.

Internally developed? No, that's like asking if Disney/Pixar should start making Rated R movies.

Outsourced or published? Ya that's fine and they have been doing this to an extent for a long time. From Perfect Dark to Eternal Darkness to Geist to Fatal Frame to Bayonetta.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

If they buy or create a new studio which ventures into M-rated games, I don't think anyone would blink. They just need to keep the brand somewhat separate. It could be a first-party studio but the studio name needs to set it apart. Sarcastic Flange Studios or Reversed Cat Softwork could do whatever they wanted and people wouldn't associate it with Mario and Kirby.

They don't need to. they just have to make sequels to Star Tropics and there they have the IP rated M. to make shure that the game is accepted well I'd make shure that it releases near either a new Metroid Prime game OR the next Monolith Soft game

They should make as many M-rated games as they do the other types of games but that won't happen. Lately, they've been censoring content in games. That's one my main problems with nintendo's consoles. Way too tame for my liking.

I doubt id buy it or play it. I enjoy their happy charming games.

I'd play it because it wouldn't be like other M rated games. It'd have its own spin. There was a fake rumor a while ago that claimed Nintendo was working on a M rated game in which you were a nazi resistance soldier going up against Hitler during WWII. That'd be interesting but a bit touchy.

Haha, I'm currently playing Conker's Bad Fur day on Rare Replay
