Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's worst E3 of the last two gens

The worst was...

E3 2008 64 33.33%

E3 2012 10 5.21%

E3 2015 118 61.46%

Total:192

Easily 2008. I would rank Wii Music below anything that was shown at last year's Digital Event.

Again, I've only watched 2014 and 2015's E3 so 2015 is my pick

If they don't hit the ball out of the court with NX, it could do worse than the Wii U.

This could be the most critical hardware release in all their time as a console manufacturer. They either hit a home run, or they're fucked.

It's kinda funny how people probably said the same 10 years ago.

But yeah, the situation is even more extreme this time.

Well yeah, that's the thing, they were in a similar situation back then, albiet less extreme, but in that instance they did came out guns blazing and hit the ball out of the park with the Wii.

Obviously the exact same trick won't work twice, but they need to do something similarly brilliant and ballsy with NX if they want to reverse ther fortunes. They've come back from the brink before, the question is, can they do it again?

2015 had the biggest let downs, but 2008 was worse by far.

2015 was horrible indeed, but I guess you're forgetting about how ridiculous E3 2008 was guys... there's nothing worse than that. It's impossible to top it. 2012 was just meh... but not a disaster imo.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

2008 was shite, but at least it didn't signify the Wii's life support being unplugged like 2015 did for Wii U.

That was a big part of what made it so bad, it was effectively an admission that the Wii U wasn't getting any more big new games, which was a bitter pill to swallow for those who'd recently spent $300 USD on one.

That's what makes 2016 a very interesting year for Nintendo. While doubting them is valid, I don't know if we should count them out just yet. Especially since they do not appear to be close to folding as a business anytime in the near future.

We'll just have to see what they have up their sleeve. They can disappoint, but also create pleasant surprises. With everything that they announced last year (i.e., mobile, theme parks, raising awareness, etc.), who knows what this year's E3 will show.

Oh I'm certainly not counting them out. People counted them out back in 2005, and look how that turned out.

All I'm saying is, it's go big or go home. The stakes are arguably higher now than they ever have been; 2016 will make or break Nintendo's future in gaming.

I agree, but I was judging just the overall quality of the shows. In that department, I think E3 2008 won (in a bad way hahaha).

I guess I'm factoring in more of what the show indicated. Both were a slap in the face to fans, but as far as slaps go, I'll take, "no games for you for the rest of the year" over "we're abandoning the console you just bought".
