Forums - Gaming - What videogame sequels you think ended up screwing what was done in the orginal?

Perfect dark zero and banjo kazooie nuts n botls

Around the Network

Bomberman: Act Zero if that counts as a sequel.

If we're doing only number "2's" then I would also have to go with Devil May Cry 2.

tag:"reviews only matter for the real hardcore gamer"

Metal gear solid 5. Went open world, lost the immersion of a good story driven game.

Add me if you want but let me know youre from this website

Toejam and Earl. The sequel went away from the really unique set up of the first.

Other M and Metroid Fusion.

More recently though, MGSV.

Around the Network

Metroid Other M and Sticker Star. Seriously, fuck those games.

FFX-2, although enjoyable it tarnished the emotions FFX left me with.

Diablo III. Made by people who clearly (and arrogantly) assumed they knew better than those who created Diablo II and in the process ended up gutting almost everything that was so incredibly deep and addictive about the series.

^ thread winning post.

Lets just have skills mean nothing, no skill trees and let people combine as they want.

Lets have drop rates suck, uniques suck, and have random % items be the king of the hill.

That way people that find super rare rares, can sell them on the auction house for real money and we can take a cut from it.

Riiiiiiiiight.

D3 was good, but D2 was brilliant, its a huge drop off in the series.

D2 you could play for like 10years, doubt most people really suck with D3 more than a single year if even that long.

Sticker Star. Dropped 50% of what made Paper Mario great like a ton of bricks.

Screwing up the battle system of FFX in FFX-2 was borderline a deal breaker for me.

Wow, the battle system is the one thing most people like about X-2. Personally I dont mind it but much prefer X's
