Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo President updates message to shareholders and investors, mentions NX

I wish they'd do another SNES and just release a standard controller with some new, innovative buttons (i.e. shoulder buttons etc.) instead of the whole reinventing the wheel thing and trying to get your mother playing games.

No mention of QoL at all makes me wonder if that has been either shelved or kinda put on the back burner for the company.

It's basically now coming up on two years since they announced it and they said they would unveil it in 2014 and release in 2015, but it still hasn't even been formally unveiled.

It's clear NX is their focus for 2016.

Does this mean they will actually release real content on other platforms? Or does it have more to do by selling toys and IP licenses for series and movies?

"With the belief in our mission to put smiles on people’s faces around the world through products and services, we have followed our basic strategy of expanding the gaming population by offering products that can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of age, gender or gaming experience. We now want to take this mission a step further by increasing the number of people who have access to Nintendo’s intellectual property (Nintendo IP)."

what it means is that Nintendo is targeting different fields of the entertainment business so it can get in front of more and more customer eyes. I think he most likely is referring to everything in combination- the NX (whatever it is), 3DS / Wii U, but also the Universal Theme Park deal to open a Nintendo section, and the move into mobile gaming

In terms of controller, Wii U gamepad is a standard controller with a screen in the middle.

I agree, but there are also the digital triggers. They haven't really bothered me, but I understand why they are not very liked.

I don't see how Nintendo can go another 2 years with the 3DS: it needs to be replaced in 2016. It's sales are way down in 2015 despite the New 3DS being released in the same year in North America.

Also, with the Wii U, even through its sales are poor but steady keep in mind that Nintendo is losing brand recognition with each passing year. 2015 was the first year that Nintendo didn't make the list of top 100 brands. There is basically a whole generation of kids that are growing up with smartphones and tablets who have no idea who Mario or Link is. This is an invisible problem, but it is one that is much bigger than lost profits for Nintendo. For this reason, I also believe that the Wii U needs to be replaced in 2016. It's not what us gamers want, but we should be happy that the Wii U is getting a solid 4th year with some great titles.

Nintendo has said that they want to reveal the NX close to its launch window for fear of other companies copying its innovative features. I personally believe that one such feature is cloud-based graphics processing and I don't think that Nintendo should sit on this until 2017 if they're going to reveal it in 2016: it's only a matter of time until one of the other hardware companies figure out how to do this.

Not them not even acknowledging that the WiiU/3DS exist, not even a "we will continue supporting our current dedicated platforms "

Not in form factor it isn't.

NX coming up very soon... I bet they'll release it at November 2016.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

That little pic at the end. lol So dead and rotten. xD

It would be hard for Nintendo to support all those different platforms at the same time, if their next console is around the corner.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:
