Fixed.

I actually meant to write "This is The Force Awakens 'box office' thread, and I was sure that I did .. .. This run is stressing me out :p

(not really)

You created and maintain the thread, which earns you the right to dictate content.

It would be nice if we could stay on topic, rather than getting chirped at by fans of other films.

Once we will get Mondays numbers it will be Disney's highest grossing movie of all time.

In like a half month too ... lol. Pretty crazy when you think about the massive success they've had with the Avengers/Marvel and Pirates franchises.

That 4 billion they paid Lucas for Lucasfilm is going to turn out to be highway robbery. It looks like they could walk home with a billion in profit just from Ep. VII box office, probably another 2 billion from TFA merchandising ... not including home video, cable, Netflix, either ... as much as you can get screwed in a $4 billion dollar deal, Lucas may have here. He should have asked for a lot more.

As per my post a few pages back, they are expecting to make $9.6b from the movie / licensing / advertising.  That is revenue, and not profit, but it alone easily justifies the $4b price Disney paid for Lucasfilm.

I agree in that the price seems low now, but 4 years ago when there was no hype, and the highest grossing Star Wars movie was The Phantom Menace (with box office revenues of $1.027b), and the last Indiana Jones movie wasn't very good, it probably didn't seem like a bad deal.

I read somewhere Lucas kept part of the rights on the toys, so he gets 4 billion, doesnt have to pay atention to haters anymore and still get a share of Disneys sucess reviving the hype. Id take that deal.

With it's number getting adjusted up, it just beat American Sniper for the biggest weekend of January.

The movie opens on China tomorrow right ?

Lots of records shattered, it's quite impressive. It's even crawling up in the unadjusted chart, #21 at the moment.

That's for all those non-believers claiming it's making tons of money just because tickets are more expensive nowadays.

It's still very far from the #1 spot.
