In like a half month too ... lol. Pretty crazy when you think about the massive success they've had with the Avengers/Marvel and Pirates franchises. That 4 billion they paid Lucas for Lucasfilm is going to turn out to be highway robbery. It looks like they could walk home with a billion in profit just from Ep. VII box office, probably another 2 billion from TFA merchandising ... not including home video, cable, Netflix, either ... as much as you can get screwed in a $4 billion dollar deal, Lucas may have here. He should have asked for a lot more. |
As per my post a few pages back, they are expecting to make $9.6b from the movie / licensing / advertising. That is revenue, and not profit, but it alone easily justifies the $4b price Disney paid for Lucasfilm.

I agree in that the price seems low now, but 4 years ago when there was no hype, and the highest grossing Star Wars movie was The Phantom Menace (with box office revenues of $1.027b), and the last Indiana Jones movie wasn't very good, it probably didn't seem like a bad deal.
