Forums - Gaming - You wake up one morning and read that Microsoft bought Sony, what do you do?

I would be less worried about the console gaming industry, because this duo would definitely survive..

What I would be worried about is that one tech giant bought another, meaning that there is even less competition in the technology area :/

Apple, Google, Microsoft + Sony

Would be crazy, PS with MS money backing it.

could be supe uber effin awesome.

Biggest gaming news ever. MS would probably have to spend close to 50 billion to buy Sony. Competition is good for the business but a part of me would really like to only buy one console. XStation or PlayBox.

I'd just be shocked/surprised, wouldn't really do anything.

A single format would be the best thing to happen to this industry. It is only a matter of when not if that happens.

I agree, but god forbid not a closed proprietary anti-competitive one.

Maybe Sony, MS and Nintendo (and all the other involved parties) should sit together and come up with with a standard for mainstream consoles. It would be so much better if XBox and PlayStation would be nothing more than brandnames/publishers supporting a singular inclusive mainstream platform.

How cool would it be to be able to download the PSN store app on an XBox and the XBL app on a PlayStation, because they're both running the on same platform? To be able to buy the WiiU pad controller, connect it to your PS4/X1 and download the store app and play the awesome WiiU games right there. To be able to run a PS4 disc on X1?

Sadly, this likely won't happen anytime soon. Fanboyism is still too much of a powerful factor to make corporations forget about monopolistic power-fantasies.

100% agreed.

I would feel bad for Microsoft since they bought a company that only knows how to make shovelwares.

At least the glorious third party support will be worth it. Except Naughty Dog. They are perfect.

I know who it is your poking at ...

@OT Not much as I hope Microsoft isn't stupid enough to ruin a good business and brand ...

I poke out at their double standards, not their first party studios. But they do suck, except for ND...

Id ask myself how did MS bought a Japanese company in the first place? then someone would hit me in the head again and I went to sleep again.

They did the same way they'd buy any other company, with a truckload of cash...

I would laugh that a smaller company bought the bigger one.

You're not messing with the Studio. You're messing with the whole company. This is the same company that was able to bail out Greece if they wanted and the same company that has the money to annex Tokyo.
