Xenoblade Chronicles X.- I love the scale of the world, the music and the little things and quests you can do in the game, is just massive, can't quite put it into words.

Yoshi's Woolly World.- Is the best Yoshi game since the original Island that is all it needs to be said

Splatoon.- cause squids, is just a really fresh and addictive game, it wins best final boss of the year for me.

Super Mario Maker.- from the charm of just creating levels to playing all the crazy stuff people can come up with, is just a really fantastic 2D Mario game.

Freedom Planet.- A platformer that manages to remind me of the charm that Mischief Makers (a N64 platformer close to my heart) had, it was just a fantastic ride from beginning to end, fell in love instantly.

Overall........don't make me choose curl

XCX hands down.

At the moment I would say Splatoon, but im sure Xenoblade X will beat it. I have it sat in my collection waiting to be started, but with being busy at work im reluctant to start it until I can dedicate the time it deserves. Also a shout out to Kirby and the rainbow paintbrush for most underrated Wii U game of the year, Ive had tons of fun with that little gem.

Indeed, the artstyle is fantastic and the music the best in the series imo.

Splatoon, because it's fun

So basically, among VGChartz users, it's a two horse race between XCX and Splatoon, with nothing else coming remotely close.
I honestly thought Super Mario Maker would get more votes.

Splatoon, it's the game I enjoyed the most this year and my personal GOTY. Second place goes to Yoshi's Woolly World.
