Forums - Movies & TV - The Force Awakens sucks! *MAJOR SPOILERS*

Also all four of the main new characters in this movie ... Rey, Finn, Poe, and Ren have more PERSONALITY than any of the prequel characters. Really liked all three of the new "good guys".

Episode VIII is well set up now and has four very good characters to work with.

Heck, BB-8 was freaking adorable too. They totally topped R2-D2.

The story will get deeper/more complex with VIII and IX, that's a given. But VIII and IX were going nowhere if this movie did not set them up with strong characters to work with.

Oh, I fucking loved when he returned the "thums up" to Finn with its "lighter". I laughed a lot with that. It's a worthy sucessor to R2-D2, that's for sure.

BB-8 has more personality than anyone in the prequels aside from maybe Palpatine hamming it up a bit too much in Ep. III.

I turned to my friend early in the movie and said "R2-D2 might be out of a job soon".

But you're right it did bug me how Rey became so strong so quickly, and it was pretty friggin annoying that she could wreck Ren in a fight like that after he had been groomed for years in the ways of the dark side....

Remember, Leia and Rey had a intense connection as soon as they met. There could be something greater at play here, and we might have just scratched the surface.

Calling it now, 3 years in advance:

Rey is Luke's daughter. That's why she's strong in the Force. It's why she and Leia had that connection (aunt and niece) and why she was able to resist Kylo (they're cousins. Remember "force sensitive" can still get you beat by an actual skilled force user. Those younglings at the temple had way more training than Rey had [read: no training at all] and Anakin went through them like a hot knife through butter. Sure, they were "surprised", but once you see one or two get mowed down, you know he's the enemy. Whereas Rey was like "lol why is your hand in my face? Shoo")

There's also the fact that R2D2 suddenly activates when Rey returns. They said he was in low power mode since Luke left so if she's his daughter it would make sense that R2D2 reacts to her.

Signature goes here!

The movie is indefensible. Even ignoring the plot holes and the fact that the main villain was seemingly barely more competent with the series' most iconic weapon than the average Storm Trooper, the film was a disgrace. The story was identical to Episode 4. There was zero originality. The Star Wars concept is one of the coolest in any media; there must be endless incredible and interesting stories to tell. To so shamefully copy the original is such a cop-out. It was lazy, cowardly and pathetic.

I agree with the op.

Wow, and you were hyped to see this movie too!

Going to see it and love it. I even loved the prequels! I wonder if any of the review sites are posting negative reviews in hopes of getting traffic. I'm not looking at a review until after I see the movie, though!

Yeah, question is, after Kylo Ren turns to the dark side, Luke just flew away. Maybe he settled on Jakku after Ren turns to the dark side? But it seems odd that he just flew away leaving her child behind. She's obviously force sensitive, but maybe not Luke's daughter.

1. Fact is, Kylo Ren was hurt by the time he was fighting either of them so he was largely defensive and he was also conflicted due to events just proir to that scene and you can tell he was a little bit worried about Ren's force awakening.

2. Additionally, Finn lost rather quickly and Rey was assisted by her growing understanding of the Force combined with Kylo Ren's injuries / mental/emotional state. Clearly why he has to go finish his training.

1. I am sory mate but you need to see this. If one can easily deflect or just stop incoming laser shots, then one can easily do that with another single shot from far distance. Unless he doesn't consider wookies to be any good at shooting, or maybe he thinks that shot from a crossbow won't do to much harm to him. It's just silly and unexplainable. One way he is perfect of what he's doing, and the other he doesn't know how to do it any more. Just bad writing if you ask me.

2. And when it comes to Ray... and her knowledge of the force. Why something so serious as the force, and so intelligently ballanced now becomes nothing special really. Just something that happens like that and no one needs any master ever. It was a long journey for Luke to know how to use the force. And I can accept that she can sense something, because she was told that the force exists and she can now be aware of that and find herself sensitive about it. But I will never accept the fact that she can beat someone properly trained as a Jedi/Sith the same day she learned she might be talented. This is just another misunderstanding.

The movie, overal, has very serious problem being sensible.

Wait, is this a real thred? Not a joke thread?

I mean, don't get me wrong, it IS a little overrated, but it's still an amazing movie and a worthy successor to the franchise.

I strongly disagree with you my friend. And I am sorry to say that as I love STAR WARS. There are to many things that are just irrational when it comes to the STAR WARS Universe.
