Anakin Padme honestly is the worst "romance" subplot I've seen in a major Hollywood film in the last 30 years. Not even joking. It's *that* bad.

Even the elf-lady and the dwarf guy in The Hobbit had more chemistry.

It is. The most cringey, ridiculous, and bad lines in the SW franchise are in this movie. For example:

Anakin: Don't be afraid.

Padme: I'm not afraid to die. I've been dying a little bit each day since you came back into my life.

Anakin: What are you talking about?

Padme: I love you.

Anakin: You love me? I thought we had decided not to fall in love. That we'd be forced to live a lie and that it would destroy our lives.

Padme: I think our lives are about to be destroyed anyway. I truly... deeply... love you and before we die I want you to know.

This is shit. I mean, the dialogue of TFA is... in another dimension. It's not even funny the difference between these films.

Superman and Batman have more believable romantic chemistry together in the new Batman Vs. Superman movie, Clones really is that bad.

Padme may as well have said

"Maybe it's that fall from the transport where I hit my head on the ground talking ... but I suddenly truly ... deeply ... love you and before we die I want you to know. Even though you have fascist political leanings that are completely against everything I stand for and you confessed to murdering a tribe of Sand People two days ago".

Batman v Superman is better than any prequel film imo. At least the acting is very good, and the dialogue didn't make me facepalm hard. I have to give credit to George Lucas because he's an imaginative person, and he created an awesome world. Okey. But he's reaaaally bad at writing dialogues. I think even he admited that xDDDD. And, for me, SW is about characters with chemistry, witty and funny dialogues, great action and special effects, and world building. He failed at everything in the prequels.

I was talking romantically as a joke, but yes, Batman v Superman while nothing special (the first half of this movie is a trainwreck) is better than any of the prequels.

Fairly easily at that.

Oh, I see. Yeah, it was a better romantic subplot, even if it's not a romantic subplot XD. It's hard to enjoy a trilogy when you hate the characters. I hated Anakin, I hated Padme, I couldn't care less about her dying, I couldn't care less about Anakin's character "development", which was awful. I mean, "Palpatine, I'm going to expose you to the Jedis" (1 hour later) "Well, I better killed all the child Jedis in the Academy". WTF? Finn and Rey have an awesome chemistry. Their development is natural. They're fun to see on screen. They just talk like normal people, not with some bad Z-series poetry wrote by a 5 years old (sorry, George :P).

Padme wasn't even a character .... her costumes had more personality than she did. She was basically a walking Christmas ornament just sitting around waiting to get knocked up in the trilogy.

Lucas had zero idea about her character at all other than she should speak like an bodybuilder for the first movie.

Basically this. She's just there to be killed at the Episode III, to give a reason to Annakin to his stupid, irrational and illogical "development". And to mouth some bad romantic verses. I can only thank Disney, JJ and his team for bringing the franchise back to a great quality level again. And I was really skeptical about the movie, but they really shouted my mouth.

Meh, the prequels are just so poorly executed, the dialogue, acting, is so atrocious.

TFA is maybe like dating a bit of a plain looking girl but she's nice enough and you have a good enough time. Maybe she's not the girl of your dreams but she's OK.

The prequels are like dating a girl that may look a little better at first glance, but she can't go 10 minutes without ripping a loud fart and you notice half way through the date that she hasn't shaved her armpits.

But even crazy farts and pits, she still stands out, it only for his much fun you have talking about her to your friends about how horrible she was.  The other girl?  Maybe you can't say anything bad about her but if you talk about her to your friends, they'd just say "What's the point of this story?"

Sometimes, being mediocre is worse than being bad.

Yeah, I have similar sentiment, I-III were not very good, buy at least they had some of its own flair. TFA for me was just pathetically mediocre on so many levels and downright terrible on so many more.

i am still waiting for the time ppl get tired of super heroes movies, so we can have decent movies like pulp fiction, gladiator.

I was very dissapointed in TFA.

It's not terrible i would place it perhaps above The Phantom Menace but that's really because it was fast paced and had some shocking moments (Solo). I don't understand how some old school Star Wars fans absolutely loved this movie when it was a complete and awfull ripoff of A New Hope... I seriously prefer the prequels over this movie at least they brought something new and contributed to the Star Wars lore and universe that we see in comics and games, not the same product with a different package.

I mean c'mon people, seriously Kylo Ren?? He's fucking terrible, a new Darth Vader with teenager issues. The positive reviews this movie got makes you think how low movie standards have fallen.
