Forums - General - Wanna know how to "make it" on YouTube? It's pretty simple

If you love games and want to make gaming related videos on YouTube but you know your videos will be overshadowed by thousands of other "well known" people on there thus you will not get any views on YouTube so it's pretty pointless, right?  Well truth is that most "gamers" on YouTube do not really have a special skill and they are in no way "better" than you are.. They just know how to exploit the system. Let me elaborate on that a little more. Let's say you just created a YouTube channel and your goal is to get 1,000 subscribers before making any real "gameplay videos".. How are you gonna obtain those 1,000 subs?  One of the best ways to do it is to make giveaway videos in which you would offer the viewers a chance to win a PS4 or Xbox One or an Iphone etc. Within just 2-3 weeks you will get 300 subscribers from people entering you giveaway.. And then just as agreed you shall spend 400$ on the prize and send it to them. Basically you are investing that money for the long run.. However... I am not trying to point fingers at anyone specific but many Youtubers would simply make fake giveaway videos so they don't really have to spend a dime.. They merely create a false account and choose themselves as the "winner".   And every month or so they make new giveaways to get even more subs.

Let me show you an example of youtubers that used this method in order to become successful. One person is PapiGfunk. He is known for having a funny accent and making a lot of unboxing videos on newly released products.. He has close to 200,000 subscribers right now. I have followed his channel closely for 5 years now. I have seen him start from just 400 subs when I first discovered him.

One way I know that this method works is I myself had actually tried this back in 2012 I made a "youtube gaming channel" where I would review new games but unsurprisngly no one would watch my videos and hence why I would make fake giveaway videos(yes i'm guilty) and I got like 2,000 subs within just 3 months.  I just became lazy and stopped making videos but if I had continued who knows where my channel would be right now.

If you have any questions for me leave a comment or PM me.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious that in order to get "big" on Youtube or online, you need to do more than just be talented. The same goes for music, movies... pretty much anything.

It's kind of a shame.

You need to put boobs in the thumbnails! That will surely attract many viewers.

I have been posting since 2011. It not not my "name" that would draw attention for me but rather my reputation on here, people know me for making interesting throught-provoking threads.

That's a bit of a risky proposition for someone like me who can't even afford a PS4 for himself. XP

That is one thing you can do, though it takes a whole lot more than that to become popular. You've got to have content that people want, and not everyone is capable of that. I'm currently clawing my way up and seeing what works and what doesn't. Fingers crossed, knock on wood and all that. I would love for my channel to become something big someday.

If I could give anyone one piece of advice on how to get big, it would be to completely sell your soul and just scream and swear and make really shallow videos with clickbait thumbnails and titles. That seems to be the real secret to success. Unfortunately (but really fortunately) I'm not willing to do that. But hey, some people are fine with it, and more power to them I guess.

Step 1. Play a horror game.
Step 2. Scream like a little girl every 2 seconds
Step 3. Profit!!

I thought this was going to be a post on how to take advantage of the home less.

As someone who has never made a video for YouTube, how does revenue work there? Do you get a monthly check from Google? Can you monitor subscribers, views, likes (that so many YouTubers seem to beg for) to know roughly how much money to expect?

I've always been curious how much money there is actually to be made. I know some channels I watch use Patreon and make 2-5K a month, but they never disclose how much revenue YouTube itself makes them.
