Yes, Tomb Raider was the perfect example.
Its the marketing & planning stuff.... quite simply Sony does a much better job of it.
Yeah, it likely is best for publishers and devs to pair up with Sony. Sony is having massive success and games sell the best on their systems. Seems like a no-brainer to pair up with them.

You are quite right. Numbers like metacritic scores like 4.9 for BF, 6.2 for Watch Dogs and 5.1 for Destiny are very telling indeed. 8.1 for Rise of The Tomb Raider and 7.6 for Sunset overdive are far more impressive. |
Wait.. Which Metacritic are you looking at? 0.o
There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'
You should praise Sony for this. Just look at rocket league. They nab that up but still let it release at launch on PC.
But they have the genius idea of giving it free on ps plus and the game goes mega viral. Even after the first month sales have been huge.
On the other hand Microsoft get tomb raider. It doesn't even come to PC. They give it one exclusive retailer bundle that's too high a price and have it released at the worst possible time.
There's a reason these deals do better on Playstation m Sony are passionate about marketing them.

I think this is a bad example. Yes, everbody knows the TR deal was stupid, but it doesn't neccessarily mean Sony are more or MS are less ''passionate''. MS have propelled many new IP's and existing brands since the 360 days and I believe they did their best with titles like Sunset Overdrive. MS for some reason have simply been picking the wrong partnerships, which isn't necessarily their fault. As I mentioned earlier, peublishers will want their games marketed for PS4 because for some reason, they hype is working, especially in EU.

Destiny sold well because it'a an activison games, watch dogs sold well too because of the same reason.
Shenmue 3 is the game that will prove if what you say is true or not
PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m
Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

While i agree with the general point you're trying to make (not quite to the same degree, but regardless), Metacritic user scores really aren't very telling at all. If they prove a point it's often just by coincidence. It's almost sad how many outside factors come into determining them, and the type and severity of those factors changes depending on site. It's how Destiny can be rated 6.1 on Metacritic 6, 8.2 on IMDb, and 7.2 on Amazon. All these with decent sample sizes. Heck, even on Metacritic itself there is a decent amount of variation. The Xbox versions of games are almost always rated lower, simply because the site has more Sony fans.
I did a long winded post explaining logical versus illogical score ranges a few weeks ago. I'll see if i can find it if you like.

I doubt they 'let' it on PC, it likely just made the deal cheaper. If they could get full exclusivity for the same price of console exclusivity, they'd go for the former.

Nintendo does the same for 3rd parties..... just lets titles that launch on their system die or live on their own, without much support.
I actually think this is one of the reasons Sony does well as a console manufacture. They arnt software developers ment to make all their profit on selling their own games, they sell the hardware and the services instead (the oppersite of what nintendo does).
Nintendo are worse than microsoft when it comes to this...
launch a 3rd party game on a nintendo console, and you ll get no help at all selling it from them.
^ think this is one of the reasons why you dont see that much 3rd party titles on the Wii U.
(which then leads to bad console sales, because consumers want 3rd party games as well).
