Forums - Gaming - When was the last time a game's graphics blew your mind?

I was quite impressed when I first saw the trailers for MGS V back a few years ago. But the last thing to just blow my mind was ES IV: Oblivion.

Before I played Oblivion the only games which I really had under my belt were GBA. PS1 and Gamecube games, so when I played Oblivion, I couldn't believe it was possible to have worlds that were so seamless and realistic. It still looks pretty decent today although the character models haven't aged well at all.

I thought the cities in Shadow Fall blew my mind.

After that, it was inFamous. Then after that, it was The Order (which I only just started after the BF sale).

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Future Rob5VGC here. FF7 Remake.

As of recent stuff hmm, Super Mario 3D World, specially on the rain levels and the final battle is a pure visual bliss, Xenoblade X is really impressive as well in terms of the scope and style, the fruit and rain in Pikmin 3 was really detailed and the final sequence of Lego City Undercover was breathtaking.

I guess for me is more the small moments and how they are presented rather than the actual visuals.

Crysis 2-3 and they are still completing with next-gen The Order and Ryse. Since they released years back it only proves how delayed 8th gen really was!

It happened a few times this generation.

First with Killzone Shadow Fall, my first PS4 game, then Infamous Second Son, Far Cry 4 had some moments, The Order 1886 of course and Driveclub. Holy shit, Driveclub.

Waiting for Uncharted 4 now.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Killzone 2 and Motorstorm 1
MGS 4

This Gen

Killzone Shadow Fall at reveal event.
Infamous Second Son
The Order 1886
Now Uncharted 4

But overall impact would be Journey
