Forums - Nintendo - MP3: Corruption Ties With MP2: Echoes

This week Metroid Prime 3: Corruption tied with Metroid Prime 2: Echoes at 1.29 mil sold.  This is a great milestone for the title but not the last it should reach.

Super Metroid (considered by many to be the height of the series) sits at 1.42 million.  How soon will Corruption take the 5th spot away from this great title?  Does it seem out of reach?  And what other Metroid titles does it have a chance to beat?

Here's the link...

I can't figure out how to post the actual page...is just a copy/paste?

Dang, only 1.42 million for Super Metroid? That must be undertracked or something.  Then again, I have never, ever seen an actual Super Metroid cartridge.  I feel deprived.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

This is great news for MP3. I was worried that title wouldn't make it this far.

That's good now it has to get passed metroid prime and I will be happy.

I thought you were going to point out in-game connections with the story lines of the two.

Sorry to have raised your expectations.  But hey, if you want to discuss it....I'm game.  Personally for me, though....I have always been more interested in Metroid's gameplay and atmosphere than whatever story it was attempting to tell.

All I need to know to play a Metroid game:  You're this badass bounty hunter who lost all her badass toys.  Go find them.

with sales like these it could easily be one of the best selling metroid games

At least I'd say... This series just sells not enough, but there's nothing to do against it it seems. 1.5 million would be nice for the game though, and I think it will reach it, at least if it sees a budget release.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

I enjoyed giving MP:3 a spin at my friends house, so I'm glad to see it doing well. However, I think I'd like to transition back to a side scroller, or Third Person Adventure.

I'd like to see a side-scroller as well (or even a 3rd person), but I'm very much impressed with what Retro did with the series. I have my fingers crossed for a Wii Ware Renaissance of old-school side scrollers, and I think Metroid would fit the bill for one of the poster children of that revolution.

A man can dream.
