You should at least list the neogaf source.
So are you getting Final Fantasy VII Remake?
Day 1 All Episodes | 27 | 32.93%
Will wait for Complete Collection | 51 | 62.20%
Never planned to get it | 4 | 4.88%
Total: | 82 |
I'm okay if they are going to release the game in like a trilogy format or something. At least this is what I'm expecting.
It would definitely be a bummer, if they release the game in an episodic manner like Life is Strange. I will have to wait for all episodes before I get the game, if that happens.

If so - that is gonna be a lot of content that they will add to the game o.O. Its kinda sad too considering a game from the 1990s is being remade but its too big for today's standards lol. |
It's more like Nomura wants to make everything huge and massively detailed to the degree that a summon animation will likely take up 5GB on its own for one of the shorter ones. I don't trust him behind the wheel for this. I feel like it will take far too long for the end product to truly be satisfying.
So this is more like FF XIII 1, 2, and 3? I was hoping they would have made one and just been done with it.
The explanation as to why it's in episodic format is reasonable. I'll probably hold out until it's finished though, see you guys in 2025.

As I just explained in the other thread, this isn't comparable. Initially FF13 was going to be a self contained experience. SE decided to let everybody run wild with sequels though since FF13 sold pretty okay. You can play each 13 game without playing any of the others though. In a way, they are all self contained experiences, although obviously you get a more complete story if you play each game in sequence. The time and gameplay differences between each title though doesn't springforth the idea of an episodic release, splitting a single story into multiple parts, but a classic way of handling sequels.
FFVII will be more like Life is Strange, where instead of FFVII-1, it will be more like FFVII: Episode One. It is a single game being broken into multiple pieces, instead of one story being spread across multiple sequels.
It may be a little annoying, but it really does make sense. With today's standards, there is just so much more work to do to create a single environment and FF7 has dozens of them. I like it better this way than if they were just rushing everything or something. I also really like that they want to bring in new stuff to surprise the veterans, I'm pretty excited for that and right now, I am actually hyped for the game! :)
Don't worry though, there will be a complete collection or something in the end, so you will get your full FF7 Remake at some point. May take a while though.
Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.
With Nomura's speed at making games, it might be best that we split it into three.
So I'm not quite getting it. They are breaking the game up into multiple episodes, but are these individual episodes going to feel like a full-fledged game? It doesn't make sense to say they had to do this or else they were going to have to cut stuff out of the game and then have each episode come out and be just a few hours long. Will the total length of all episodes still come out to about the same length as the original? Or are we talking about splitting the story of FF VII up into multiple 40+ hour RPGs? I can see there being issues either way.
Well, since they are splitting the game I expect the first episode coming out for holiday 2016 or first months of 2017 at max.
