Jose mentioned in NVC that it was a bit side tracked.  And Peer mentioned that they don't want to release a review that doesn't comprise maybe until almost the end, in a sense.  roughly maybe 70-80% near completion, i guess that what his statement is about.

the world is just massive and for me figuring out where to go, it may take additional time than normal.

so Jose needs to complete maybe the whole story, not the whole game itself, it would really be punishing to have nearl 100% playthrough including the superbosses (which I believe would have the same thing as XC).

saw in Jose's twitter account - .’s Xenoblade review just got pushed to Monday. Our editorial review standards demand we finish each game we review. Sincere apologies.

Good.

No more BS 7.8/10 too much water scores, then, right, IGN? The problem with this approach, however, is that you still don't have much proof about this...

He needs to publish proof, preferably on Miiverse where the screenshots are native.

The "too much water" complaint wasn't a BS complaint. For those that actually read that review, you'd see that the complaint was related to the clunkiness of all the water-related mechanics, which was made especially apparent by the abundance of it. Ofcourse, it's much more fun to just mock the review without having read through it.

I'm unsure what you mean by the title Spurge. Are the other scores from reputable sites, but just not perfect, or are the other scores not from reputable sites because the scores aren't perfect.

I read the review, Teeqoz. I was just using an easy-to-understand example. The thing about the review was that it felt too much like it was just going off the pre-release PR and off other Pokemon titles - though that may also be a knock against mainline Pokemon entries in general. That was why it was easy to dismiss the "too much water" content as mere rubbish. The wording also did not help.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

The only place it said "too much water" in the review was in the pros and cons list for the people who were too lazy to read the entire thing :-p

If they had just switched it out with "bad water-related mechanics" I don't think anyone would've whined.

But the game is not perfect, target controls are really bad and inconvenient (why not use the up and down on the dpad or R+ left and right?), the UI font is too small, things like augments and fashion armor are hidden deeply within sub-menus and are not clearly highlighted, if you press + in a fight you cannot close the battle command menu, and there are many reports about freezes if you check party member details.´The gamepad use feels very gimmicky and is forced on the player. It would have been much better if these critical functions were available on the large screen. I prefer using the classic controller all the time and only use the gamepad for fast travel and data probe configuration. And the arbitrary requirements for story missions are a very bad desighn decision because they remove the freedom to do whatever you want.

Fetch quests are impossible to solve without a guide since you get no hints at all other than the continent they can be found on. But the rest of the game is very good. Since I discovered the alien base on top of a mountain near NLA, I really started to like the game, even though the world feels empty compared to Skyrim since places to go or hidden caves and buildings are very rare in Xenoblade but there are hundreds of them in other RPGs. But the world itself is by for the best looking one in any RPG on any system. My personal rating would be between 8 and 9 out of 10, while the original Xenoblade would get a clear 10. In Xenoblade X the fun is there but it is hidden deeply within the game and it requires a lot of paitence to find it.

I am looking forward to Xenoblade 3 which will be a more story focused game according to http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/12/04/next-xenoblade-would-focus-more-on-story-like-original-game .

it could be 'too massive'.  as the world is really too big and hard to explore until you have a skell.
