GC was amazing but no way it was better than Wii!! for me Mario Galaxy makes the difference on its own in terms of Nintendo games
also the Wii had more hidden 3rd party gems
don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^
Wii had more games I enjoyed than the GC, so no. But GC did have MGS TS, RE2&3, and those Zelda games.
Gamecube is very overrated by Nintendo fans of a certain age. I don't think that it matches up to the Wii in any way. The games that people tell me are better on Gamecube than Wii to be honest I just don't get. Double Dash being better than MKWii seems to be common thought among Nintendo fans and I seriously don't get it at all - it's super-hard for me to tolerate Double Dash after playing Wii, such is my perceived quality difference between the two. And as a casual Smasher, I find Melee feeling quite redundant when compared to Brawl (in the same way that Brawl now feels redundant because of 4).
I think the big thing Gamecube really did have going for it was the Metroid Prime series. But hang on, Wii got Metroid Prime Trilogy - including both Gamecube games with superior controls!

Since the Wii was two GameCubes duct-taped together, I'd say the Wii was twice as good as the GameCube, plus duct tape is also cool to have.
Signature goes here!
Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Metroid Prime 3 (my favourite of the trilogy), Xenoblade Chronicles, Sin and Punishment 2, Zelda Skyward Sword, Pandora's Tower, Kirby Return to Dreamland, Red Steel 2, Endless Ocean, DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Muramasa, Goldeneye, Rhythm Paradise, Wario Land: The Shake Dimension... and so on.
Yeah, Wii stomps here. Also, Virtual Console and backwards compatibility. And I would like to say that when I hear someone say "Last Nintendo console I had was the Gamecube because the Wii was terrible" I just can't believe them. I mean, at the very least, you can think that the Wii was equal or a little worse than the Gamecube. But just bad? Fuck no: they have a very similar library. If you liked one, you like the other, as simple as that.

Wrong console and title, you meant to say Valkyria Chronicles and it was available for the PS3. Leaving that aside, I think that the Wii is above the Gamecube but not by much, games like Skies of Arcadia: Legends, Custom Robo, Pokemon Colosseum and Paper Mario: TTYD had no equal on Wii.
I actually disagree with the assertion that the Gamecube had better third party support.
It certainly had more more mainstream/multiplatform third party support, but if you were willing to dig for them, the Wii had plenty of lesser known gems; Silent Hill Shattered Memories, Monster Hunter Tri, Sin & Punishment 2, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, The Last Story, Little's King's Story, No More Heroes 1 & 2, Red Steel 2, Pandora's Tower...
