I was goint to point out why all of that happens, but the beatiful VGC community has already done so reamarkably.

So to OP read the comments, there's your answer of why it is that way.

Are you saying that most of the criticism you see towards Nintendo is baseless bashing, because it's the cool thing to do? If so, can you show me one of those topics? I think most of the criticism I see against Nintendo is constructive criticism, and much of it even comes from Nintendo fans.

But the way you're describing the event only tells a small part of the story.
You say people started laughing at Nintendo around the PlayStation 1 era. Well I actually think at that point it was more crying than laughing. Because where do you think these people came from? They came from Nintendo, or Sega. Were they laughing because they could now play games with realistic cars on PlayStation vs cartoony characters on N64? Or were they sad because Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Street Fighter, and pretty much all the third party developers left Nintendo, the console they used to game on?

But sure, Nintendo also made some decisions that people made fun of. That always happens if you give people ammunition. People were photoshopping pictures of the $600 George Foreman grill fat PS3. And making gigantic pictures of Xbox, because it's so "huge". Or giving them a hard time over their DRM policies, etc.

Thing is, it's been several generations now, and Nintendo just never listened. And when people's voices are ignored, they start shouting.

This.

there is a bizarre amount of hate for Nintendo online and fingers seem to be constantly pointed out them

I suppose it might be due to how long Nintendo has been around and how revelant they have remained in the gaming industry that they have developed a massive hate group who like to freak out about anything related to them

again, most likely just due to envy too Nintendo being extremely revelant since the dawn of the video game world

What you are describing is not a scapegoat, its more of an outcast.

Everyone "agreeing" with the OP is wrong.

a continuation of my former post:

That being said, I understand where you are coming from and agree on the point that NIntendo does recieve a lot of criticism.

I have a few questions for you Padib, Is the criticism perhaps an effect of Nintendo's Tenure? As though, a lot is expected from the veteran of the industry. If not for criticism, what would it recieve instead? Praise? Silence? Is either actually beneficial to the company? Is there really a difference between criticism and constructive criticism from the standpoint of Nintendo listening to people outside of the company?

Addendum: I am blaming Nintendo for the removal of Project M. There are rumors that they recieved a Cease and Desist, and I'm 99.9999% sure is was Nintendo because they always do this sort of thing.

I really like Nintendo, I'm enjoying my Wii U, but I also wish Wii U was their last home console.

Between PC, Xbox, and Playstation there is enough competition. I really hope the NX is a portable/home console. That might justify its existence.

I like Nintendo games and I would buy more of them if they went 3rd party.

The victim complex is reaching epic levels of hilarity. It's become the real scapegoat. A mediocre game appearing on [redacted] that receives valid criticism? "OMG STOP PICKING ON [redacted]," despite the fact that the game would also get the same criticism if it appeared elsewhere. A game developed by [redacted] doesn't get a 90+ on Metacritic? "Industry bias," which is just ludicrous. It's become a running joke. People were embarrassing themselves in fits of internet rage because a reviewer, and fan of the series, didn't enjoy the water levels in Pokemon all that much. What the actual hell?

Today I made a rather innocent and meaningless observation about the Lost Reavers game and someone accused me of "blaming [redacted]". It's fucking ridiculous.

One day us gamers will get rid of Nintendo and their followers, now that they are uniting their console with their handheld it's the perfect time to strike. In the past the handheld part of Nintendo saved their asses more often then not but this time mouhahahahahaha it won't. If you are with me add '' conspiracy'' in your posts. Don't worry I'm using a special algorithm that won't let Nintendian see the contant of this post. CONSPIRACY AWAY!!!!

This is the dumbest thing I've evconspiracyer read.

You clearly didn't read your OP buddy

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Is it a secret to you that you will always side with the side that does not defend Nintendo? And you play blind to people attacking the company, that is something you don't know about yourself?

@Bolded/Italic/underlined - "Always side with the side that does not defend Nintendo" - you are a really funny guy Padib - maybe you should try playing Nintendo's games or actually buying them rather than wasting your time making response threads blaming internet folks when they post articles about how Nintendo is doing poorly, etc. You take these threads too seriously and make a response thread which is something that they are trying to make you do.

As for the rest - "Defend Nintendo" - Nintendo doesnt need defending - its a company that doesnt need white knights on the internet to protect it - they can protect themselves considering they are the ones that made the decisions to get where they are now. They know what to do and they decided to go against what is considered norm in the gaming industry hence why no third party support at least not in the same level as its competitors.

Maybe , just maybe Nintendo does deserve the criticism for some of its mistakes (Nintendo isnt perfect)? Maybe it has something to do with the design of the WiiU and its gamepad that puts off third party devs? Maybe there's tension going on with the third party devs and Nintendo we dont know about? Maybe its because Nintendo doesnt follow suit to similar services that the competitors offer (i.e. a Unified online account system for example). Who knows and honestly why should anyone care, just play and enjoy the damn games :O - anyways....

Edit: Nintendo isnt a scapegoat of the industry - by calling it that is just an excuse for its poor decision making and shortcomings.

I hope you dont think I am Anti-Nintendo LOL - at least that is what the bolded/italic/underlined sounds like l0l
