Hi everyone, my first thread after 2 or 3 months :P

Its actually an honest question for those who know about game development. How is this game not technically possible on the wii u, unlike zelda wii u and xenoblade chronicles x.

It botters me how some indie developers lie to the people. How the hell is XCX, Fast Racing Neo, MK8 or Bayonetta 2 possible on the console and a game like this or Blinding of Isaac Afterbirth isn't? Come on, just say you cannot afford the time it cost to make it happen on WiiU being profitable and that's it, tell the fucking truth, don't get into the "is too weak" train just because is easy, it's pathetic and the lie is too obvious.

That said the game looks cool.

Maybe the CPU is too weak for the kind of game they're going?... Doubt it.  But I think they mean the Wii U has specs that require more resources and time to downgrade.  I think they don't want to take the time to port it. the NX will be more like the other current gen consoles in terms of specs and ports will be easy like they are for the PS4 and X1

Not enough staff, no experience with other architectures, badly optimized, not meaning "technical" in the sense of technology. Maybe they're technically Nintendo haters. Choose the one you like.

Bonus

technically
ˈtɛknɪkli/
adverb

  1. 1.
according to the facts or exact meaning of something; strictly.
    "technically, a nut is a single-seeded fruit"
  2. 2.
with reference to the technique displayed.
    "a technically brilliant boxing contest"

technically =/= technologically.

They do this stuff so as not to damage future relationships. Saying "Wii-U sells like shit, so we don't want to waste our time" is only going to put you on Nintendo's shit list and screw your ability to work with them in the future.

that's rational

They probably mean technically budget wise. I am sure it could def run on the Wii U, but at this point, it's not even worth doing. It is better to see if the NX will be a viable console to work on.

Well, I'm pretty sure that they can do it techinically.

There are a good chunk of problems though, like how the Wii U's architecture is a mess, and how it would take a while to rewrite the game for the Wii U, and it'd be so much time and effort for a console that most third party devs don't even bother supporting as a result.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

You are probably right. When asked about an android version the answer had nothing to do with technical limitations: "No plans for iOS/Android. Premium games don’t do well on those, and adapting the controls to a touchscreen would be rough."

This game reminds me of Muramasa: The Demon Blade for the Wii.
