Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo has one of the best possibilities for an E-sport ... in F-Zero !!

I was just looking at some Fast Racing NEO gameplay hoping that the game will still be on the E-shop for NX when I realized something: There are a few common characteristics that tie most of E-sports such as fast matches with fast competition, high replayability, the possibility to chose your character (or VEHICLE) with it's own stats/abilities and also many more that diversify one E-sport from the other.

Now I think that F-Zero just fits perfectly in this description, it's fast paced, it offers a lot of replayability (and even more if there was an online/tournament mode ) and there's of course the vehicle selection !! Plus the maps for F-Zero are out of the ordinary, giving to the game a nice twist that IMHO could catch up with a lot of people !

Do you agree? Do you think Nintendo should invest in F-Zero for making an E-sport out of it or they should just limit to make regular entries in the series ?

Nintendo needs to re-establish F-Zero as a popular franchise again. After that, they can try and make it an E-sport, but I don't see it happening.

Nintendo has two of the biggest E-sports around already: Pokemon and Smash. And Splatoon has the potential to evolve into something way deeper and competitive. They have that front covered.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Nobody races F-zero competitively. It is just time trial ladders. Is any racing game played competitively?

Esports are also stupid. When it isn't advertisements it is incessant commentary over every little thing. Barely any gaming.

F-Zero in E-sports is really smart actually. Nintendo needs to recruit people within that industry though in order to understand how to make it popular.

I'll agree with this. Smash was a valid and accepted game long before it showed up in competitive scene. Nintendo should breathe new life into the series.

Imagine the Impossible

I wouldn't expect Nintendo to develop and revive a franchise with esports in mind. Smash 4 was made with a developer that does focus on competitively gameplay. Aside from that, most of Nintendo's games are made with casuals in mind

Mario Kart is not an e-sport, but it is wayy more popular than F-Zero so...

Getting ahead of yourself. Can't make an e-sport out of a non-existant game. They first need to actually make the game. Also I thought it's mostly the players who determine what games are e-sport material, hence even if Nintendo makes the game with the intention of it becoming an e-sport, it could still not be, but eh I don't know how all that works.

I knew someone would have taken Mario Kart into discussion and this is why F-Zero is >>>>>>>Mario Kart as an E-sport: The Items, the item system in MK is totally unbalanced and luckbased, it doesn't matter if you're last or if you're first, if you're lucky you can get first while beeing terrible at the game, while if you're skilled but you have bad luck you'll most likely finish in some lower position. F-Zero instead is totally focused on the racing meaning that you really have to be the best to win.
