Forums - Gaming - UPDATE Prediction on 90+ 2016 Exclusive Titles

Of course it's not PS4 vs Xbox One. Hence me including Nintendo in the posts as well.

Your OP says people buy consoles for these highly acclaimed games. I am just pointing out that the deep in last place console actually has by far the most of these titles. So your premise is flawed.

I don't care about predicting the opinions of reviewers. Xbone could have zero 90+ titles into 2017 and it wouldn't change anything I said.

And I'm just letting you know based on the rules you set in the OP, Wii U has 3 titles and PS4 has one. Of course, I missed that the goal posts were already being moved before I replied. Whatever helps your narrative I guess. But if the idea were set in a strong foundation, one wouldn't need to shift goal posts.

So somehow 3 highly acclaimed exclusives for one company and 1 for the other are now an abundance. The more you know.

Yet you fail to mention that the Wii U has been out for one more year. The PS4 is VERY likely to get 2 more this year. Uncharted 4 is pretty much a lock with all the exclusives the PS4 has coming up one more will probably do it.

So youre saying with this vastly superior library of highly acclaimed exclusive games (3 vs 1 vs 0) the Wii U should have outsold the others even more with an extra year.

Seems the premise is even shallower than I thought

The issue is the PS4 has many many (MANY!) games that is exclusive to it and the XBOne that the Wii U does not. Nintendo games can not out do the entire rest of the industry so your arguement is incorrect.  "Exclusive" games do not matter if you do not have decent 3rd party support to go along with it.

Its not my argument. I personally dont think exclusives matter to a majority of people. If they did the Wii U would be faring a lot better.

I feel the games that tend to get 90+ generally aren't that great. They just appeal to critics in a way MS games generally don't.

When games like Journey and Smash Bros gets 90+ scores, I just know fans of Xbox exclusives are out of touch with critics.

So...you're saying it's the critics fault? They just don't "get" MS exclusives? You act like MS makes these crazy, left field exclusives and they really don't. Most of the Xbox Ones exclusves, released or upcoming, are from franchises that they've had for years, and many of them were 90+ games before. I don't really get argument you're trying to make here.

Journey and Smash are bad examples. Those games were also extremely well recieved by gamers in general.

I think Sunset Overdrive was fantastic and fresh. I think Killer Instinct is one of the best and freshest fighting experiences in years. Forza Horizon 2 is one of the best open world driving games ever. I haven't play Ori, but that's a game that almost hit 90.

Uncharted 3 scored in the 90s and basically more Uncharted 2. Journey is not the hit people think it is but reviews incredibly well. Smash Bros is kinda the same game its been since the 90s. Last of Us had great story but the gameplay is much to boast about.

So yeah, MS has great, unique stuff the competitors have no answer for. But it just doesn't do as well with the critics.

I'm not really sure about the point you're trying to make here. Are you implying that Microsoft games are underrated while Sony/Nintendo games are overrated?

You also never really answered my question, what is it that Xbox exclusives lack that causes them to end up under 90? I also think you need to remember than critics are just gamers like you or I, the only difference is that they're given a platform to tell people how they feel about a game. So when you say things like "They just appeal to critics in a way MS games generally don't." you're saying that they appeal to people in a way MS games usually don't.

You may like certain games more than most people do, but that doesn't mean that the reviews aren't indicative of their quality.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I'm not gonna say MS games are under rated. But I absolutely believe some Sony and Nintendo games are over rated. I say that as someone that played/own some of the 90+ metacritic games.

I can think of reasons why Xbox games aren't scoring 90s, they arguably don't deserve a score like that. I also think some of the 90+ games on PS3/PS4 and Wii/Wii U are over rated. Hence, I feel sometimes critics are too generous.

Uncharted 3 and Smash Bros Wii U for example are too similar to their predecessors to deserve 90+ scores in my opinion. But whatever, that just shows I don't have the same feelings as many critics.

Does it matter? Xbox Exclusives rate very high in there own genres. Aslong as there a good overall experience than that's all that matters.

Also X1 games cop alot of flake based off troll reviewers like Forza Horizon 2 getting a 2/10. Never take meta seriously.

Forza Horizon 3 will be over 90 especially since its not going to be cross gen so there is not going to be a 360 port that will hold it back.

Lol? How is that going to make a difference. The only thing a cross-gen game differs from a current gen game, is graphics. Especially for a racing game.

They had to hold back the size of the map because it also was on the 360.  I expect Horizon 3 to have a map at least twice as big as Horizon 2.  Horizon 2 was almost over 90 metascore even with being cross gen with it no longer being cross gen they can add enough extra stuff for it being over 90 on metascore.

Do you have a source? And the Xbox One version of Forza Horizon 2  was running on Forza 5 engine, which is a next gen engine so I really doubt it would have been any different. And even if the maps were bigger I'm not seeing how that would make the game better? It's a racing game, not an RPG.
