Fallout 4 sold better than expected. They probably didn't expect Fallout 4 to sell 5+ million in the 1st week. Fallout 4 more than doubled the 1st week opening sales for Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

It's doing better or similar to Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of rome, Forza 6 And Sunset Overdrive. If you look at Xbox One exclusive standards for previous sales it's overperforming or performing has expected not a sales dud has you call it. First week sales: Dead Rising 3 - 267K This game can easily maintain 75K-90k per week sales for the Holidays which would take it to 750k-900k copies sold. The fact that Microsoft foot the bills for marketing and production is actually good for this franchise. Lower sales wont hurt Microsoft and Square Enix makes a profit with less sales. |
"Lower sales wont hurt Microsoft and Square Enix makes a profit with less sales." What?!? You're talking about percentage net profit (MS money + revenue - cost) over cost (because MS fronted the money). But no, more sales brings more total profit because the revenue is going up. This is almost one of the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If square enix hypothetically sold 10 million copies in the 1st week, they would be rolling in money, MUCH MORE PROFIT. Also, as a brand and a franchise, you want more copies to sell with every new game.
We only have VGC estimates (aside from UK numbers) for now. But yeah, it always was going to be that. Even without Fallout.
Someone get Polygon on the horn..
the Street Fighter situation is much closer to the Bayonetta one, than the TR one. Anyone who is saying otherwise is lying or stupid
350k is not that bad, since the best selling game of the year also came out that day, it will probably sell over 2 million when it realeses in the other consoles
If the purpose of the game was to have a system seller similar to uncharted then it failed pretty badly.
It will probably get some more copies sold in the next weeks.
It was a stupid idea to let it compete with Fallout 4.
Also it was a stupid idea to make it a temporary Xbox exclusive.

Well it could probably outsell Uncharted Vita.
