Forums - Sony - Will Sony Treat Rise Of The Tombraider As A Relaunch?

I don't know, I think there is a good chance Sony decides to teach SE a lesson by letting TR limp out to die.

The more they were to do that, I'm sure the more SE would start investing in other markets like they are doing for PC/Mobile. They don't invest as much with Xbox but I'd imagine if Sony showed they care less and less about SE then the more likely it would be for SE to check other places out in time.

But the game should do well on PC, because PC gamers are used to having delayed ports so they will buy the game in the same numbers as if it was launched on the same day as Xb one. This might get RoTR sales up to a level where SE feels they don;t need a relaunch marketing campaign for PS4. I guess we have about 10 months until we find out. By September we should know what SE/Sony have planned for the RoTR release, if anything.

Not entirely 100% factually true, not all of us appreciate or like delayed ports. If I'm getting a delayed port for say a year or more and hardly anything done to make it different than it's original release then I'm less likely to pay full price and instead wait for a sale. I'd also imagine it being odd to claim it will give exactly the same numbers as Xbox while elaving out what it would do for PS4.

I would not be surprised, if they worked with SE to add new content. If Sony has leeway (and the agreement with MS will certainly factor in), I'd expect a targeted campaign.

That rarely happens after a exclsuive deal is made.

Hence, my "leeway" caveat: if none is there, it won't happen.

probably Xbox will have that too. And probably that  remake.

i am agree with u

Sony should not help Square on this one so they know that they can't get away with anything. It's a powerful message really!

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Does it matter? Sony has FF7 Remake. That makes Tomb Raider irrelevant in comparison. Actually, it's not even a comparison.

Xbox will have that too. And that remake is probably years away.

Nope. Not explaining.

a what now? why would they do that? sony isnt ms. they dont need TR. sony will treat it as an everyday multiplattform. they have enough system selling titles scheduled for 2016. they rather direct focus upon on these than a game that is already available on other systems for quite a while at that time.

Hunting Season is done...

No, feel free to elaborate.

Just look at the Finaly Fantasy Type Zero sales ratio. Not much more to say.

Why would Sony want to do a marketing deal for a year old game? Why would this game be any special when Sony will have other games to concentrate on?
I see Sony treating this game like hundreds of other PS4 games - acknowledge it's there, give it an article on its blog, and let Square Enix worry about selling it.

Also, we don't know the exact agreement on delay with MS, I can see this game launching in January 2017 rather than being earlier than 12 month delay.

The game got more than a 9.3 on IGN... it's a critical success. Sony would be foolish to treat it like it's just another game imo.
