I think it was a joke ribbing on the notion that Nintendo is 7-8 years behind the competition when it comes to online connectivity. I personally disagree with him. Nintendo just makes games that are more directed towards single player experiences and party games with friends. No  one wants to play a good party game like Mario Party, Nintendo Land, Smash, or Mariokart online with strangers. These are games meant to played with friends not online competitively like Counter Strike, Halo, or Dota. It's not really one size fits all here.

i dont understand why  people say that, Smash Bros, Pokemon, Luigi's Mansion, Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, Mario Maker, Splatoon and others have solid online modes/features.

He was mainly implying that Nintendo would rather delay a game than press an unfinished game and patch it.

SMT X FE is from a third party, as well as Project Treasure and Star Fox.

Pokken is too. Oh, and TPHD. Lots of outsourcing going on lately.

In terms of publishing though, none of these will be 3rd party (except Project Treasure).

Twilight Princess HD (Tantalus), Pokken Tournament (Bandai Namco), Star Fox: Zero (Platinum Games) and Genei Ibun Roku #FE (Atlus) are made by third party studios. But I doubt making a rational argument was your intention when you entered this thread. And Super Smash Bros. 4 was also made by a third party studio and will get Cloud as DLC, one of the most iconic third party characters in gaming.

In fact, Mario & Sonic at the Rio Olympics is made by Sega and Project Treasure is made by Bandai Namco. The only game on his list that is being made by Nintendo is Zelda U.

Oh that's interesting. I didn't know that Nintendo is publishing so many third party games.

Can these third party studios keep the profits of the Nintendo-IP-games or is it just commissioned work?

It's easy for Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft to get "third-party-support" if they hire these studios, pay the whole development costs, but keep most of the profits in return.

What does that have to do with anything? He said Nintendo doesn't need third parties while they rely heavily on third party studios for
2016.

isn't Zelda TPHD an eshop exclusive?

Nope, it's retail

I find very funny that 2016 is such a big year for both WiiU and 3DS, when a lots of signs point out the NX might release next year. What an odd transition.

You know it deserves the GOTY.
