Also, gotta say, agree or no, there is no need to attack the OP of this thread. Come on now : /

It's not like OP is really encouraging intelligent discussion with a thread written like this.

OK, you don't like motion controls, but "The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword is a crappiest worst games in history" because of that!? I mean, really!?

Skyward Sword is one of the best games last gen, even some people didnt like controls.

And no, WW HD didn't have motion controls, so TP HD and Zelda U will not have them.

Seems someone hasn't watched AVGN before. SS has crap controls. But it's not the worst game ever, because of that.

Sorry. I recalibrated 6 times pretty much every time I played the game. And I have 0 windows in the room I play my systems in. I'd lose center every time I use the beetle.

Your post explains why you had problems. You assumed that the game uses the pointer.

Who said pointer. It uses the motion plus to plot the 3d position. This loses center. When you're aiming past the screen. Which is caused when the beetle fails to operate correctly. If you don't recalibrate, the sword fights will not read you inputs in the right spot. Your sword will be futher to the left/right. Then sword combos won't be trigger right. So I usually have to recalibrate after I use the Beetle.

I thought the motion control were well done. Took some time getting used to, but after beating Ghirahim for the first time I felt I had good control over them, and I really enjoyed them. Actually, I think it is 1 of the best examples of good motion controls (I agree that many games did no use them well) and I'm glad they were included. Basically it delivered what i expected from the Wii when it was revealed.

Some other games in which I like the motion controls are Metroid Prime 3 (and trilogy), Red Steel 2, Madworld, WarioWare, Punch Out, Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, Sin and Punishment and Wii Sports. The thing most games have in common with Skyward Sword (although SS used it even better than most) it that you needed to get comfortable with the controls. At first they would seem a bit awkward but eventually I'd get the hang of them and they'd be great.

The pointer orientates itself via the infrared lights that are in the sensor bar. Sunlight that enters the room can throw the pointer off, because sunlight contains infrared light. By saying that the controls in Skyward Sword should work because you get no sunlight in your room, you are saying that the game uses the pointer. However, the game doesn't use the pointer at all, therefore the presence or lack of sunlight in the room is completely irrelevant.

You lose center in Skyward Sword because you are using the Wiimote with the assumption that it uses the pointer. Aiming past the screen doesn't change anything in Skyward Sword. The way the motion controls for aiming work is that the Wiimote's position at the point of entering aim mode is considered the central position. For example, if you held the Wiimote vertically with its top pointing towards the ceiling of the room while entering aim mode, that would be your basis. Now in order to aim up, you would have to tilt the top of the Wiimote towards your body; you are aiming way past the screen in such a position, but the controls are still working. That feels weird, but that's because your initial action made this awkward position the starting point. In that situation you feel forced to point the Wiimote straight at the TV and press down on the d-pad to recalibrate.

So the way you have to play Skyward Sword in the most comfortable way is to make sure that you point the Wiimote straight at the TV every time you enter aim mode, and only afterwards start aiming for a corner. This makes it feel similar to using the pointer, even though you aren't using the pointer, and it's obviously slower because you can't aim at a corner of the screen right away. The beetle fails to operate correctly for you because you assume that you use the pointer and thus point the Wiimote at the edge of the screen before entering aim mode like you would do in other games. But while you are holding the Wiimote that way, your beetle goes straight, then you move the Wiimote to correct the direction and you end up holding the Wiimote at an awkward angle.

The way my room is layed out. I'm never at the center of my TV screen. My TV is a foot higher than me sitting down. But the center I start at never changes. When I go back to my center, It doesn't get back to that position. I shouldn't of mention windows, honestly. I know the pointer is not freaking used. I messed up with that comment, move on from that. I know how the controller works. But it will not keep the center that I initaliy set. It does drift off, over time.

So I have to recalibrate. I'm just one foot below the screen. The beetle works fine. But when a deguon makes a harder turn, I naturally try Move more farther over. And when I go back to my normal position. It's no longer center. Recalibrate. Why can't you just understand it's any annoyance regardless. You're bascially gonna start arguing that my bed is in a bad place, and that's the reason why I can't play the game right. This is why I'd prefer a button. A button doesn't care how much space or were i sit, for a game. I'm done with this. This is off topic to the thread, in the first place.
