Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo censors out the 'Bust slider' from your character creator in Xenoblade X

I agree. The creation toolset for this game is absolute garbage. If they weren't going to take it seriously and make it quality, they shouldn't have even attempted it.

It doesn't look too great. What I'll end up doing is recreating Shulk if that's even possible. If it's too limited they should've just had a male and female representative -sure it may not be inclusive but is less insulting than lacking and in this case taking out features which just limits an already limited avatar creator

Stuff like this just reinforces the belief that nintendo's products are tailored toward kids instead of adults.

Didn't think you'd be black

Y'know, it is weird they don't have different skin colors. I'd feel weird being a white dude when I'm actually black in real life(and vice versa).

Hopefully Nintendo recognized this and adds it as a free DLC/update/whatever you want to call it m80.

They do have different skin colors. That's the issue. Being black is more than just a skin color. We have different completely hair, lips, and noses than other ethicities. None of that is represented, and it's literally imposible to make a character that looks like they are of african decent without even the most limited of options for each.

And it's even more aggrivating when a game has these options, but using them results in an ugly abomination like what is posted above. Not to be vain, but I'm very confident in the way I look, and I've had that confidence reinforced many times by many people. So it's agrivating when I can't make a handsome looking black person who looks like me at least a little. I was absolutely over the moon when Destiny had the option for a wider nose that wasn't ugly, bigger lips that weren't stereotypical, and dreads what didn't look dirty-hippie-like Bob Marley's. And that was still limited, but I was absolutely thrilled, because I'm literally not asking for a lot. Just one wide nose option, one larger lip option, and maybe 5 different hairstyles that have the nappy afro-decent hair texture instead of the stright/waivy/curly hair textures that are exclusive to every other race on the planet.

I understand man. Black people always have white people with no soul ruin their culture with stereotypical(and ugly) features that don't even represent what black people actually look like.

Be as confident as you want. Hopefully Nintendo adds more customization for blacks/other minorities before the game releases. If they don't, then it'd be cool if they added it as a free update.

I guess that Nintendo might not add extra customization. It'll really disappoint me if they don't, but at least they're putting so much effort into the game. They probably didn't focus much on it because Japan is mainly white-skinned people, so they overlooked it. Nothing wrong if you do, 'cause you actually got a reason

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

I'm planning on making a middle eastern looking teenage kid. Kind of going for a Euraka 7/Gungam Unicorn vibe. If I make him the shortest he can possibly be, and give him the "joker" voice option, I'm sure that will be enough for him to look and sound convincingly 14-15ish.

I've never played a game where I was frusturated I couldnt be "black" enough. Maybe be more understanding that a game made by Japanese for Japanese isnt a paragon for ethnic diversity.

Mii characters are more ethincally accurate than this game. Clearly it's not make "for Japanese" exclusively, because 1. the skin tone is actually an option and 2. the devs have literally gone on record saying that making these games relatable world wide in a primary goal for this franchise, specifically targeting the west.

I'm not going to let it ruin the game for me. This is an issue in too many games to do so. Animal Crossing New Leaf, Pokemon XY, Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates, Monster Hunter 4U, etc. And obviously my expectations game by game are varied. I don't espect afro nose/lip options for Pokemon because of the style and already limited nature of the customization for everybody of all races, sexes, ages, and body types. But I at least wanted some hair options. Again, even Miis have better creation options. Miis. Nothing crazy. Just one hairstyle that could maybe pass for dreads. Or braids. Who knows? Who cares. It works and it doesn't look stupid. All I need. The lips are there. The noses are there. It's like I'm playing X and Y and there are literally other trainers in the game who look blacker than my trainer. Elenora exists. Marshall exists. They know how to make these kinds of characters and they've already done it for two generations, yet they fuck up in the character creation. Bull.

But I won't let it ruin the game for me. It just sucks that in a game with the option to create your own character, I literally can't make a character who even vaguely resembles me.

Censoring Lin, sucks but eh, not the end of the world.
Removing breast size slider on the other hand is just a.. what the fuck?, is the size of a womans breasts in a game (and peoples ability to try and make their character match their own, real world proportions) now a bad thing? it's not like the smallest or biggest ends of the slider were outrageously sized or anything.

Some of the people here make it sound like the size was outrageous but I haven't seen it. Also I've noticed a lot are assuming people will maximize the breasts, some would like to minimize them as well given the option v.v do you have a picture showing the smallest and largest look like in the game?

When you chose dark skin color, are you limited to using certain other features, or can you for example use any type of hair on any skin color?
The guy on the left looks cool to me though, but if you can't change his features to ones more suited for his ethnicity, then I understand your concern.

The way XCX does it is so fucking weird.

So there are a finite amount of set faces, and each face has a finite amount of hairstyles tied to them, many exclusively so. I think there are like 65 hairstyles or something, with each face having access to only like 11 each. The faces cannot be structurally edited at all. You can't change eye shape, lip size, nose, or anything. Everyone can have any color skin, though. The guy on the left looks fine, but he doesn't look black - he looks either very tan or at most middle eastern. Which is fine if you're really tan or middle eastern, but is absolutely infuriating if you're black, because that is literally the closest I can come to making my character look like me. I can deal with the anime eyes. That's just an artifact of the art style. This other stuff is not.
