I agree with this. Even more than 3m by end of year for Halo. More like 3.5m-4.0m.

But Splatoon too, will be minimum 3.5million, if not 4 million.

And LT sales, Splatoon will be easy over 6 million.

They should be pretty close this year, but Splatoon will have better legs.

Splatoon has just reached 2 mil it will be lucky to ever get to 3... Halo 5 will outsell splatoon.

Splatoon was shipped+digital 2.42m as of September 30, 2015.

OT: I would be completely shocked if this was to happen. I'm still expecting at least around 6m for Halo 5 when everything is said and done. Regardless, I've been very surprised by the sales of both games.

I hope it does, but i would bet on it. It is just crazy that it has a chance.

But all of this lies with MS decisions.
1- If they free bundle it to help XONE to move units, it could easily go up.
2- On the other hand, If may decide that they need to make more Halo as early as possible to increase their profits and compensate the smaller numbers of Halo5, than each one will sell much less.

To be honest, we get a huge number of fairly good shooters during the whole year, every year : Destiny XTs, CoD, Farcries. Plus (in 2016 for example) Overwatch, Titanfall 2, Doom, Rainbow Six Siege, The Division, GoW 4, Garden Warfare. And that's just what is coming to mind now. This may have affected Halo too.

Well I don't know where you get those numbers from. I only know of this site for sales numbers.
