Face it: you won't play Zelda on a new Nintendo home console next year. You won't even be able to buy a new Nintendo home console in 2016 because there is none releasing in 2016. But maybe you want to buy the 3DS successor that is coming in 2016.

Will Cranky Kong be playable though?

If it's not coming out in 2016, then showing NX in 2016 is monumentally stupid. Who is going to buy a Wii U in 2016 when they see the new, better NX?

If it's shown next year, then it's coming out next year IMO. The "here's a new console, now wait a year for it to release" is outdated and will never work, Sony/MS recognized this a while ago.

Saying NX would be "unfinished" for 2016 is stupid too because you have no idea what Nintendo's development teams have been doing the last 18 months. 

What's the Mario 3D World team been working on? Mario Kart 8 team? Retro? Animal Crossing main team?

It's looking obvious that all these teams shifted to NX development, in which case you very well could have a new 3D Mario, Animal Crossing, Retro game, etc. ready for the NX's first 6 months, on top of Twilight Princessing the next Zelda for NX launch too. 

In which case that could easily be their strongest launch ever. 

NX will be out next year. Not even sure why that burns some Nintendo's fans chaps so much either ... you get to play Nintendo games on better hardware, when has that ever been a bad freaking thing? Would you rather be playing Mario Kart 8 on the old Wii in crap SD resolution? And you were going to have to buy a NX eventually unless your plan was to stop playing Nintendo franchises with the Wii U. Nintendo consoles generally suck after year 4 anyway, all Nintendo would be doing is skipping the crap "tail end" portion of their console cycle and going right to the next cycle which is good. GameCube sucked in 2005, so did Wii in 2011/12. Seriously enough with the crying about this, jeez, such a whiney reaction to getting something that's actually good. 

Of course! I wouldn't be surprised if Cranky Kong makes an unexpected cameo in Zelda U or some other game as well.

I was going to make a joke about Cranky Kong being a playable character in Star Fox Zero, but I see we have enough Cranky Kong jabs...

I remember that, but they nailed it last year with Mario music and Zelda U.
