Where's the epic Nintendo?

In my basement... 25 11.11%

In my bed... 24 10.67%

In my mind... 74 32.89%

In Japan... 102 45.33%

Total:225

"Epic" games cost a lot more to develop these days, Nintendo is a risk averse company.

I'd say Mario Kart 8 is their "epic" game of this gen, you can kinda tell they went all out with that one.

Not in my eyes. It is like a western bastard child that a japanese exec had on a trip th the US lol.

It's the odd one out. why isn't there like 2-4 more western Nintendo owned studios?

retro (and next level games to a much smaller degree), is Nintendo's golden egg for the western market.

Retro's games are always of high quality regardless of the system they work with (metroid prime trilogy, dk country returns/tropical freeze).

They could have just as easily have become the equivalent of Sony's Naughty Dog. Too bad Nintendo isn't as trustworthy with them to let that happen

Agreed hence my bastard child comment. It is like a dev that get thrown projects and not given the freedom to create new ips. they need a few more retros under their belt, or at least triple the staff to work on three projects (with the curent staf becoming leads as they got the experience)>

I know. I don't know where they are. It seems like they go for the less ambitious route most of the time this gen. Early 3DS still had it though. On WiiU, of what's released, it seems of the big franchises only Mario Kart 8 exceeds it's predecessors in scale and grandeur.

To me nintendo is relevant because metroid and zelda.
I bought wiiu when i heard zelda u. But it never came. I feel scammed honestly. No more nintendo for me. The normal wii is succesfull thx to wii sports mario and karts and metroid and the zelda's. U have to admit that nintendo really fucked the fanbase in the ass. Unlike the sega fanbase when shit got nasty they left the bandwagon. So on one hand i gotta admire the fanbase warrior like behaviour. But on the other hand now they get shit games and still accept it.

I dont mean to disrespect but mario maker? Come on. And even the wiiu sports i had to use 2 wiimotes for boxing. Fuck that

Where it is? Where's that Nintendo that was not afraid of making every type of game? Where's that Nintendo that can develop colorful, dark, kiddy, mature games?

Where's the Nintendo that developed an epic First Person Adventure called Metroid Prime, one the best trilogies ever created:

Only thing that we lacs this gen is Metroid Prime (but I think Metroid project was move to NX), nothing else.

I dont see whats the problem, you bought Wii U because Zelda U and you will get Zelda U for Wii U.

They delivering everything they promised on Wii U, they releasing almost all their IP-s on Wii U despite horrible Wii U sales. So how exatly Nintendo fuccked fanbase in the ass!?

Well, there's no point in developing timeless masterpieces in a relatively-speaking failure of a console, sales-wise. They'd rather wait for the NX (if  successful) to start dropping the bombs.

Well, this Nintendo is dead. But I've heard there is one small japanese company, that isn't afraid to produce games that are different:

A colorful shooter that operates with ink and has the goal of coloring the arena:

Or a game there everyone can create a level for a 2D-jump-and-run (in todays 3D-loving gaming-world):

A game that brings open-world to a new level:

Forgot how this company is named, but maybe I remember later.
