IGN's article says, "According to Microsoft," so it's the same information.

No one thinks Halo flopped.
Even if the actual sales are only half of what Halo 3 did.... it wont matter.
Halo is so big it can lose half its sales rate and still be a monster sales wise.

But yes, from what we know of sales numbers (only from the UK so far), it looks like it sold half of what a normal mainline halo game does.

Sony side = halo is under preforming (sales wise). UK sales are half what it used to be.
MS side = it generated 400million in revenue, who cares how much it sold, it made bank!

Well, MS is winning something this gen...the amount of spin used in PR.

I'm sure the game did well in a general sense, but it's obvious it is the lowest selling main entry in the series. Why else use this amount of spin? It seems the XBO has not been kind to Xbox franchises.

Easy calculation 12 million hours in campaign, average time each person spends in campaign = 4hrs (lots of people don't finish the campaign) number of people who play the campaign per game sold is 1.5 thus game sales = 2 million or thereabouts.

*yawn* no hard sales numbers yet again. MS you're kind of annoying me with how you're reporting numbers now.

"Fans have logged more than 21 million hours of total gameplay"
Why is this number so low?

If any of you Halo players here can make a short summary of how many hours you played alone/with your friends on the average? I'd guess that within the first days, you'd have played 10-20 hours each so that would point to 1-2mio Halos sold?

You can easily tell this game didn;t sell close to previous Halo entries other wise they would of said sale numbers.

Literally impossible to extrapolate any kind of reliable sales information from a number like that.

Nope.

Are people actually saying Halo flopped or are you guys just making this up? I haven't seen anyone on here say Halo flopped, all they've been saying is it sold less compared to previous Halo games and that isn't a good thing.

They NEVER say first week sales numbers, even Halo 3 only provided money numbers and I am sure you aren't going to claim that sold badly are you?
