so that confirms it SHOULD have sold at least 250k fw if we include digital and the special editions and ofc retail.

It is the exactlly opsite... that confirns about 170k including digital for week 1.

This PR is just a masterful spin.

Well a few days ago i read an story here by a vgchartz writer and it said the xbox uk boss said halo 5 is the biggest selling fw game in the uk in xbox history(i looked for it but cant find it it now). This says it made 7.73 million fw so it did better than http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/news/a677051/halo-5-guardians-makes-more-on-day-one-than-spectre-at-the-box-office.html#~pt0VT9LwRLIGPE

Also the biggest selling fw game in the uk for x1 is cod aw http://www.vgchartz.com/game/81798/call-of-duty-advanced-warfare/UK/ 2013k. Not only this but all the special editions and bundles came with digital copies only and if someoen got it digital they could play it at the minute it launches. It doesnt add up to it selling 150k digital had a huge factor to play here.

edit- and if we add it up first week it sold aroudn 180-190k

edit- I foudn another article http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/halo-5-is-the-biggest-xbox-launch-to-date/0158047

You misinterpreted it. This article was released on launch day of Halo. She also said “Halo 5 will be our biggest release on Xbox One to date.” Key word there is 'will'. She is probably talking about being their biggest game with their biggest marketing push. The others have already pointed out with sources why your estimate is wrong.

Sounds like 7.7 million GBP, factoring in limited/special edition sales at a higher price point, and 150K hard copy more or less confirmed for the opening weekend, means not all that many digital sales. Taking the best case scenario of every game copy being sold at 40GBP equating to 192.5K the best possible digital share is 22%. That seems to be what people think was about the digital share towards the end of last generation for games that had day 1 digital releases.

I don't know whether Halo 5 is a special case because fans want that game case proudly displayed on their shelves, or whether for consoles digital sales are staying pretty static at on average 20% of total sales.

A link to the source of the information in the OP would be good. Also does this indicate whether the 7.7 million takes account of the Halo 5 Xb one bundle? i.e. the revenue MS got over and above the base price for a Xb one? Taking account of the bundle it might add a few tens of thousands to the first full week Halo 5 install base.

Still if the official record shows Halo 5 as the lowest selling main numbered Halo in the UK that is not great news for Halo, albeit it will still sell plenty and make MS a decent swag of money.

She said it will so if shes so confident that means she based it from pre orders. Either way it still doesnt add up to it selling 150k only first week. 150k retail copies but it must be above 200k if we include the bundles limited editions.

150k includes bundles.

Only not digital not bundled.

Halo 5 retails for 40 pounds, so that works out to around 190k.

How does that compare to Halo 3?

That includes overpiced limited editions, (possibly bundles), and more.

Is that after costs for advertising, shipping, distrubution, packaging, devolopers. What is this mysterious 7.7 million you speak off?

That's earning not profits.

Note: Pretty bad press statement. Taken from hide the numbers 101.

Ok, IF it's their biggest XB1 launch. Show me exactly how you come to your figure using the £7.7M made day 1 and bare in mind this source also theres a source saying that week 1 was 50% higher than MCC in physical sale.

"Xbox One: ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ takes the top spot and outsells the week 1 for ‘AC: Syndicate’ by 50%. This is also how much more Halo 5 sold in week 1 compared to last year’s ‘Halo: Master Chief Collection’ - up until now the only other Halo game available via retail for Xbox One owners."
