Forums - Website Topics - Why does bread smell so much better than it tastes?

Butter. Put it on the bread.

What are you talking about. Bread tastes like heaven. There's nothing better in this world than bread. I could be eating bread all the day, without complains.

Have a lunch without bread, and it feels incomplete. Breakfast without bread isn't breakfast. Heck, you can add bread to dinner too.

Sometimes you don't even need to put anything into it. Bread alone is enough.

Dammit, OP, you should be ashamed for even suggesting that bread doesn't taste great.

It's like smokes - once get rid. Of it for good, it doesn't smell or taste that good (or good at all) anymore. Takes six months to two years.

Bread is my weakness. Its bad for you but I just love it.

its not bad for you, its just that it contains a lot of carbs. too much of it can get fattining real quick.

unless the bread you eat has high fructose corn syrup, in which case its bad.

Grains are maybe the worst kind of food there is, especially bread that has all the grains in a powder form, has likely added trans fattyacids and all kinds of other ingredients that don't belong in a human diet. Other than that, gluten, wheat germ agglutenin and what other lectins there are can give you a leaky gut - even if you didn't have a celiac disease. It can also make it harder for you to breath, make asthma worse (or even give you one (as baker's asthma).

There's a wide range of health problems you can get by eating grains. If you have autoimmunedisease, you should quit them altogether and see what happens in couple of weeks to a month or two.

Yo, this thread made me get out of bed at 2am just to have a bit of bread.

And thus, after eating said piece of bread, I conclude in the name of science (Yes, this is a scientific study... don't question its background!): Bread does taste good.

I felt similarly about Pepsi and other fizzy drinks. I couldn't eat without them. Quit them for 6 months. Now if I take a sip, I wonder how I used to drink them without vomitting. They taste so ... synthetic.

Fresh bread with butter is a match made in heaven

Errr, I don't know what you've been eating but it's probably not bread, so I would stop.

How is bread bad for you?

Coffee is something else that smells better than it tastes

Bread is bad for you in the long run like all grain based foods, but it does taste good if you add something to it, but bland if eaten just on it's own with nothing added not even butter
