Forums - Nintendo - Kimishima believes Nintendo will exceed DS/Wii Era profits within 3 years

Do you think what Kimishima says is possible?

Yes, i have faith in Nintendo 69 22.77%

No, Nintendo will never r... 76 25.08%

Maybe 58 19.14%

Depends on what the NX will be 75 24.75%

Depends on their mobile strategy 25 8.25%

Total:303

What a bold prediction. It could be possible with the combination of their consoles (home and handheld), mobile, and other things.

Dayum! That's a bold prediction Kimishima! That would mean software and hardware sales greater than DS and Wii and a thriving mobile division. Show me the NX and I might believe you. Depends on what the NX is and if Miitomo isn't the extent of their mobile division.

Still, the "totally new gaming experience" NX thing kinda has me worried. I hope Nintendo knows what they're doing.

No, it does not mean that NX has to surpass DS+Wii. It means they will have multiple successful business venture such as dedicated gaming+mobile+Amiibo+QoL+theme park attractions+movies+merchandising. It's Nintendo becoming more than just a gaming company and becoming an all around entertainment company.

Well, if the president of Nintendo doesn't say that he believes in his own company ability to turn things around, who would?

It's part of his job to say things like that.

It's also part of his job not to over inflate expectations.  If he says he can have wii/ds profits in 3 years, he knows something we don't know.

I guess if the NX proves successful but, even moreso, they go crazy in mobile and continue selling amiibo and such...

Even then it seems almost impossible given they were making absurd profits in that era... The Wii/DS cost almost nothing to manufacture and, from what I recall, every sale was a net gain before the ensuing software was added to the mix.

Yep, I can see it. Exciting times ahead!

Agreed.  Weird thing is, and this is just stirring in my head, because now Nintendo is shaping up to be more than just a gaming giant, an overall entertainment conglomerate monster beast, Nintendo might just go the route of PS and Microsoft with the NX console.  In that they may sell it at  a loss, in that it will be high-end specs, in that it will be an all capable machine easy to work with and have ports of every multiplat game there is.  And this again is just coming to me, but because of their other ventures, even if it tanks, they're covered.  But, if the nx is golden, they in 3 years they will have surpassed wii/ds combo.

I have the best dealer in the world.

That's true.

Kimishima seems very ambitious

I hope that means Nintendo will be successful in all areas, specially videogames.
