Forums - Nintendo - Unverified dev guesses: NX might more powerful than PS4/XBONE, based on a PC demo...

Nintendo is aiming for a cheap console with a strong first party line up, not for a powerfull and expensive one, so I´m not sure about this.

Two things i'm going to say.
1) SDK for NX has not yet been delivered to any companies, no hardware or NX-specific software, however some references to NX can be seen in the latest WiiU / 3DS SDK codebases.
2) Even if it had (it hasn't), the post this threads based on is clickbait.

Theres a very good reason why the PS4 and XBO are using the components that they are, and it's called profit.

If Nintendo used "top of the line" CPU/GPU you would be looking at a minimum $600 console, which would clearly not fly at retail so Nintendo would be eating a massive loss for every console sold, likely higher than any previous console in history in order to hit such spec at an inviting price, at the same time in the very post the user goes on to give himself multiple get-out clauses, such as "not yet finalized" and "and quite possibly faster than whatever Sony and Microsoft have in store." the latter one being rather silly given that it suggests that Sony and Microsofts consoles arent even out yet, when they are.

What this is, is someone taking the "chips" comment in the recent "SDK are being delivered" news and taking a stab in the dark guess for hits, masked as being legitimate, with enough get out clauses that he can backpedal and avoid the flames should it (and it will) turn out to be nonsense.

No matter how much of a Nintendo fan people are, I would advise them to consider this clickbait fantasy to avoid dissapointment/ridicule in the future.

Also OP, he doesn't claim NX has a Skylake i7, he claims one of the SDK demos "crunches so many numbers" that it cannot hit 60fps even on a Skylake i7 and "nearly top of the line" GPU. So he is essentially claiming that NX software requires hardware even MORE powerful than the latest CPU/GPU, which in itself should be setting off yours, and everyone elses red flags with ease.

An i7? Bah don't make me laugh. How expensive is this console going to be?

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

Well the "insiders" didn't take long to come crawling out of the woodwork.

I'm not going to bother cross checking this one.

It's a nice Nintendo fan pipe dream to think that they'll be buying a console with a $300+ CPU (i7 quad core, 8 thread Skylake) and presumably a $300+ (more like $500+ if "near top of the line") GPU for under $400 (closer to $300 because this is Nintendo), but big fans are obligated to dream big.

I agree that's a pipe dream..  But something 50% more powerfull than the ps4 with disc drive sold seperately could easily be sold for $399.99 next Christmas.

Yeah the claims are not thoroughly vetted and these are very early tests..  It's not going to be i7 skylake powerfull. But will probably blow the ps4 away technically speaking. Would be easy to do at a 399.99 launch price and disc drive sold seperately.

Actually it couldn't, if higher end software "50%" more powerful than the ps4 could be made for the same price, Microsoft and Sony would be making a killing on hardware, they're not because the components are still expensive, and higher spec components are more expensive still, to make something 50% more powerful than the ps4 you're looking at a BOM per unit of at least $600 to build something to the spec of what the latest nonsensical skylake stuff is claiming, BOM wouldn't even play a part in it because the hardware to outspec a top of the line GPU and cpu doesn't actually exist. (Hint: its why they're called top of the line)

It has nothing to do with how vetted the information is, its false information.

As I have stated already, NX sdk hasn't even been shipped. And unless Nintendo plan on selling a $600+ console or taking a major loss per unit, the NX will at-best, be roughly the same spec as ps4, at-worst, just below Xbox one.

Industry leading to me means compared to ps4 and xbone which are strong last gen pc's and nowhere near cutting edge.  The xbone is already being sold fr 249.99 a year before nx launch and they have some extra expenses like a disc drive and unneeded ports like hdmi in. Nx could easily big 50% more powerfull than that for 399.99.  Mathematically speaking it is very plausable but whether nintendo does it is yet to be confirmed.  50% more powerfull is nothing. that's like going for gamecube to wii.

I don't respond to one person's random speculation. I only react to leaks. And without a disc drive and 150 dollars more in retail cost than xbone and one year into the future it could easily be 50% more powerfull. That's not a big leap.
