It's unavoidable. Don't see how a $250 machine isn't pure fantasy, given what we know. Plus the only the 500GB model is $350 now. I highly doubt the NX will be launching with such little space, given how indegral digital gaming will be to the NX. Expect 1TB of harddrive space. At least $300. Won't be suprised if its $400.

Plus the NX will also have the Wii U's library on the market place. They aren't starting from zero like everyone else. People who never bought the Wii U, which is just about everyone, will have access to Smash, Kart, and Splat on the eshop at launch, on top of everything else.

the same way they sold the wii at $250,.. take their prior gen console and re-release it with a very modest increase in technical specs.  i honestly don't know how anyone that has payed attention to nintendo's recent activity can believe the nintendo will release a console that will out-muscle the ps4.  NX will fall under the xbox technically and have a modest price tag.

That's not happening. The reason they did that with the Wii conflict with what they're doing with the NX. It's strong enough to play DQXI, a PS4 game. That's how.

They could sell the Wii for $250 because it had a once-in-every-20-years type dynamite, industry shaking controller concept. It also didn't hurt that Sony out of the blue made a $600 console. 

It's kind of like being really, really good looking (especially as a woman) ... you get away with a lot of things you wouldn't otherwise. 

I think Nintendo knows they probably can't pull that off again so they have to be more reasonable with the hardware spec.

You kinda have to admit if for say $300-$350 you could get basically

- An Android tablet (NX controller) that also doubles as a Nintendo portable
- Home console on par/better than XB1 + PS4

That's a pretty good value. If they allow Android apps on the controller tablet.

there is no commitment that any DQXI game is coming to NX and even less that any specific version is.  don't fool yourself.  ..or worse yet,. embarrass yourself.  nintendo doesn't want to be cutting edge technology, they want to be "good enough".

Nintendo's IPs would start to basically look like their older CGI renders if they really wanted them to. Budget would be more of the restraining factor, not hardware.

DQXI is confirmed for NX and will likely be the PS4 version. The handheld Nintendo userbase will have the 3DS while the few Nintendo fellows that loves to play on homeconsoles will play on NX the PS4 version. Don't fool ourselves, 3DS version will destroy the homeconsole version in sales, so no that's not the version that needs more sales.

And Nintendo doesn't need a lot of power. They are trying to get back the users that play mobiles games and most of Nintendo fans are happy with graphics at the level of Star Fox Zero.

i'm not saying there is anything wrong with good enough.  i'm saying that next year ps4 and xbox one will be around $300 and i'm saying NX being under $300 isn't unreasonable because NX will be under ps4 and xbox one technically.  probably not by much,.. but there is just no way i'll believe nintendo ships higher spec'd hardware than xbox one until i see NX launched and a retail version is torn down by the internet.  nintendo just doesn't care about technical specifications enough to have any reason to believe they'll be high end.
