Could Splatoon Potentially Be In The Top 3 (if Not Top 5) Best Selling Franchises In Japan?

 

As of Right now being on the WiiU and its debut, its safe to say it made a name already for itself. Even being in the top 5 best selling WiiU Games.

The best selling Franchises in Japan are obviously Pokemon+AC (Top 2), but leaves Potentially Yokai Watch being right up there followed by MH/DQ/etc. 

In Your opinion, do you think Splatoon 2 or if Splatoon was released instead on 3DS it could be one of the best selling franchises in Japan?

I think if it released on the 3DS it would've sold more than Yokai Watch most likely. Not sure exactly how much though. Can't see it beating Pokemon or AC, since ~4.5m is insane.

Nothing, I listed the very top. Mario is up next to them. Well MK/2D+3D Mario/SSB/FF/etc

Hmm, I doubt it, those other franchises will be tough to beat.

Nothing, I listed the very top. Mario is up next to them. Well MK/2D+3D Mario/SSB/FF/etc


didnt see mario, but whatever.

I am just gonna go with no it is not the best selling in japan (or in the top 5). There's too many franchises with a strong foothold that will outpace it

Thats because a WiiU game can do all so much with its terrible userbase. Looking at it only for the WiiU games, its outpacing MK8, Outsold SSB, and is closing the gaps with Wii Sports U/NSMBU which were heavily bundled.

If Splatoon were on 3DS, It would of easily surpassed 2mil by now. Hell being on the Vita i think 2mil+ would be possible xD

But the thing you said, well atleast one of the franchises you mention is being outsold by Splatoon (MK8) on the same system. In Fact Its actually killing it. And the other franchises you listed are in the top 5 already^ (with adding Animal Crossing).

If Splatoon can do 1mil by end of the year (which seems like a lock for Digital+Shipped), its scary to think what it could of done on 3DS.

Examples, look at the difference between MK/SSB/NSMB/SM3D on WiiU and 3DS in Sales :)
