Forums - Movies & TV - I'm Not Scared Of Scary Movies: Help Me

They don't scare me anymore as well but I still love them.

Still the two scariest I've seen are Signs and The Blair Witch Project.

Horror movies people watch with family are hardly true horror.

Movies and games aren't scary to me either. It's all too predictable, in your face, and I'm simply all to aware I'm watching shit on a screen.

Real fear has to come from inside. I only get it from books. Letting your imagination paint the picture of a potentially scary scenario is much more powerful than watching something predefined play out in front of you.

It depends of what kind of spectator you are, some people barely get themself into the movies and they need a superficial terror, like the classics jumpscares, the music gettind loud suddlenly and things like that to scare them, and those tricks are already too used and does not have effect for other kind of people.

On the other hand there are people that get too much into the films and psychologic terror affects them a lot, I was genuinely scared watching The Babadook and It Follows, they were in my head for weeks, the same happens with some older movies like Rosemary's Baby, yet I know there are a ton of people that feel absolutely nothing watching them.

Personally I think the movie that scared me the most was The Ring, is not my favourite terror movie at all, but holy shit, it gets under your skin.

That's the thing, it doesn't even matter the type of terror. The things that scare me most are the things that can actually happen to you. If it's something like a possessed doll or Five Nights at Freddy's, it just doesn't register as "scary". It may just be my personality. I'm very much a reallist. I'll look at the Ring tonight, hope it's on Netflix or Hulu.

You may appreciate the devil's rejects.

To me it is imagining what such a reality would be like. The idea of someone chasing you is far scarier to me than watching someone get chased. My advice is watch alone in the dark and focus and immerse in the film. Easiest way to diffuse scary movies is watching with a group as it constantly reminds you what you are watching is fictional.

They don't scare me either yet I still like watching them. I do get quite immersed in the setting, yet the only way to get scared by movies is to smoke while watching and I haven't done that since I left the Netherlands.
Books can still scare me, they're much better at describing claustrophobic scenes than movies can.

So, whenever my friends/family want to watch a scary movie I'm never scared. Everyone else is tense or they get scared by some stupid monster that just "appears". I just don't find them scary at all. Is there something wrong with me? Name me some scary movies that might scare me but be warned, I probably won't be scared.

Well, watching a scary movie with a lot of people isn't scary. Try watching one alone at night at home.

Maybe so. I've only done that a couple of times but even then, I'm sure I won't be scared. Anything with grotesque monsters or over the top gore just doesn't do it for me. Demonic things are scarier because I do believe demons exist.

Troll posts?

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

You don't need to be scared to enjoy a scary movie. Watch "The others." Great thriller.
