Movies and games aren't scary to me either. It's all too predictable, in your face, and I'm simply all to aware I'm watching shit on a screen.
Real fear has to come from inside. I only get it from books. Letting your imagination paint the picture of a potentially scary scenario is much more powerful than watching something predefined play out in front of you.
