If you lower the min. wage the poor will have to work more to stay alive, it won't affect prices because they will buy the same, just the things they HAVE to buy either way if they don't want to die. |
If we raise the minimum wage, companies will raise prices and give their workers less hours or hire less workers to make up the difference. That's fact. If we keep mininum wage where it's at or lower it, nothing happens from it really but companies will make more money and it will not hurt everyone. That's fact. A minimum wage job is not a means to make a living. Fact. It would actually take multiple minimum wage jobs working part time just to make ends meet. Fact. That hasn't changed ever in the states. It was like that many years before and it will be many years later.
My point is that a minimum wage job is not a career or a logical choice in a job if you want to take care of your family and be able to enjoy life in the long run. So some think that by raising the mininum wage, minimum wage workers will be able to enjoy the perks of the middle class. It's a fool's notion and it does not address the problem at it's root. The root is that person cannot provide for their family with their current skillset and education level. Education is the solution that works best for the whole country in the long run. There's no negative to it.
This proverb really suits this.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
